Giant Felled By Staph Infection

Daniel Fells had a cortisone shot in an ankle late September. A week later the Giant’s tight end was hospitalized with an MRSA infection that has required five surgeries to address.

It appears the 32-year-old’s football career is over but at least the reports are pretty positive that he’ll keep his foot.

  1. Hospitals and nursing homes… The RN’s and docs might constantly wash hands, but they wear the same clothing for 12+ hours from room to room. Also, you can bet the farm on shoddy cleaning of rooms!

    I actually found blood from a previous patient on a bed rail when giving birth to my oldest, and I WORKED ON THAT FLOOR.

  2. This has me rethinking the benefits of taking cortisone shots in my back when it flares up. I think I’d rather live with the pain than take a chance on having an MSRA infection in my spine.
