I can think of no better tribute than to repost this video.
This is Campbell performing, to perfection, Wichita Lineman.
In this clip, not yet diagnosed with Alzheimers, he’s performing with his son, the guitarist on his right.
Later on his daughter would replace the keyboard player, becoming, essentially, a nanny, keeping him on track.
His son, in an interview years after this clip, said that his father, even though he was in the throes of Alzheimers, was able to pull out these guitar leads that astounded him, culled from the catalog of decades and decades of licks, and he did them differently every time.
Performing with his kids was the thrill of his life. Even though he was handed a bad deal, how many people get to be this happy late in life?
RIP.
See you down the line, Wichita Lineman.
This makes me so sad, maybe because of the Alzheimer’s. He was the music of my college years. RIP Glen and all my prayers for your family.
Oh, how I love Glenn Campbell. Rest in peace. What a beautiful man. What a beautiful voice…forever…miss you already.
We knew the day would come, but it’s still sorrowful to lose an American original.
Sad end, RIP Glen Campbell.
So Sad. He was a beautiful Artist, who gave so much.
I’ll love you forever, Glen.
Glen was a multi-talent. He was even great in True Grit, without having to sing or play a guitar.
RIP Glen, thanks for years sharing your talent with us for many great years.
Ran across this a few weeks ago

An amazing musician and an amazing performance. God bless you Glen Campbell.
So long, Glen Campbell, a fine man and a rare seventh son.
Rest in peace. Glen was such a great musician, and you could tell he really loved what he was doing. He played many of the lead guitar parts on The Beach Boys biggest hits, and toured with them as a Beach Boy.
Thanks for sharing your songs with us, Glen. We’ll keep you in our hearts.
Absolve, we beseech Thee, O Lord,
the soul of Thy servant,
from every bond of sin,
that being raised in the glory of the resurrection,
he may be refreshed among the Saints and Elect.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen
Glen Campbell was the guitarist’s guitarist, a musician’s musician, a performer’s performer, and one of my favorites. Thank you for living a productive inspiring life. A tear shed for you.
Time to watch True Grit where Kim Darby describes his hair as fluffed lettuce, great movie, great soundtrack.
His last song… recorded after his diagnosis of Alzheimer’s

RIP, Texas brushpopper…
PHenry,
That was great.Remember him as HB in that late night Sally Hartman,Sally Hartman Comedy? It’s what was on when I worked 3-11.Back in the 70’s. What a flash from the past.
I’ll always fondly remember that Glen had the very best right hook!

Breaks my heart. I just loved him. Don’t mind shedding tears for someone like this I’ve never met.
Alzheimers is a thief of the present and destroyer of the past.
Bless all the families who have a loved one dealing with this thief of memories.
An absolute legend. And he never lost his incredible talent. Aside from all the early classics, which are essentials, I highly recommend the fairly recent Meet Glenn Campbell. I keep hitting the repeat button on that.
I am pm my phone but if you want to see his very early work or someone can post the work by session players called the Wreaking Crew. You will be amazed at the band’s that they made sound much better.
Truly a legend.
Rest in peace Mr. Campbell xo

Jackson Browne wrote a song called “These Days” when he was 16 and many have covered it. I love Glen’s rendition and video. It’s very moving for what he was going through then, even moreso now given his passing. Would someone link/post it?
Horrible way to go. Thanks Glenn. Folks in heaven can hardly wait for you to pick up your guitar again.
@ted nougat.

English is wonderful languageIn no way does it allow you to convey emotional content.
This is my opinion, Glenn was the greatest of all at anything he attempted. There are plenty of guitar players, meaning no offense to the others, Glenn will always be a step up on anybody.
You don’t miss us, but we will miss you, and thank you for the music.

Folks always said he and I looked alike. It was odd to watch he and I age together. I saw Glenn and Andy williams perform together in Branson, Mo. Both were tru professionals. In addition to singing and playing his guitar. Glan played the bagpipes that night Andy related that before Glen was known for his songs he was the top studio guitarist in Hollywood. Not bad for a Oklahoma farm boy. Here is Glen and Roy Clark playing together. Both are at the top of their game. Their fingers know the fret board better than they know their own face. BTW, Glenn is playing a 12 string. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-sExIVBVaw
Rest is peace Glen. Thank you so much.
Rest in peace Glen, and thank you so much.
Glenn is the only guitarist I know of that played The William Tell Overture [Lone Ranger Theme].

JCLady,
Yes. Thanks.
Thanks Extirpates. Awesome.
PHenry,
Thank you, also.
Glenn is performing for the angles tonight. God bless you, Glenn.
The Wrecking Crew — yes, I was floored when I learned that Glenn Campbell was among that astounding group of session players before he went to the front of the house with his singing. You will be amazed at the number of singers/bands they provided the trademark sound for.
He sure gave county linemen all over the country a new aura, didn’t he?!
Hell of a musician. Loved him. I remember watching his tv show when I was a kid. I rode a city bus (first and last time) with my cousin to buy his album.
Motto for Clan Campbell, NE Obliviscarous – Forget Me Not
In my opinion Gentle On My Mind is one of the best song ever recorded. RIP

Thanks Tuesday. If I can find the whole movie I will post it in the bullpen. They made so ,so , many bands sound better.
He could have been a major rock star , but he choose to go the country route. Good call on his part , and for us.
Rest in piece Glen.
He breathed the rarefied air of greatness.
I knew this was coming, but it still hurts.
Go well young Glen,
tear it up, up there
Thank YOU Geoff! I didn’t know about it – it was fascinating to watch! Love him so. Great musicians!
Like Glen, my mom was 81 when Alzheimer’s finally destroyed her basic body functions and she passed. Dreadful disease.
