Global Warming To Dump A Foot of April Snow on Parts of Northeastern United States

UPI-

The National Weather Service said a wintry mix of snow, rain, and ice is likely to persist throughout the Northeast before changing to all snow on Saturday night.

Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories were issued for parts of New England, upstate New York and northeast Pennsylvania.

Portions of Vermont, Massachusetts and New York may see a minimum of six inches of snowfall by Saturday night.

High terrain areas in New Hampshire between the cities of Nashua and Keene may experience between 12 and 18 inches of snow while the southernmost portion of Maine could receive between six and 10 inches.

Sleet and freezing rain is also possible and about two inches in rainfall may occur in the Northeast causing potential for a patchy accumulation of ice.

Ice accumulations can make travel difficult in certain areas. Wet snow and ice on trees threaten to damage power lines resulting in possible power outages.

  1. As it always does in ny, ma and vt. Early April in New England is not planting season and anyone who has lived there knows that.

It will fall and quickly thaw.

    Totally normal.

  2. Speaking of Pie Hole…. a travel tip. A new authentic Neapolitan pizza joint opened up in Ashland va called Pie Hole and it’s fantastic. If you’re doing I95 hop off and try the margherita and their white pizza is awesome.

I’m not associated with them in any way, but I know Neapolitan pizza having lived in Naples. This is the real deal. If you’re north/southing on 95. It’s worth the stop.
Exit 92. Rt 54 West. About a mile.

  3. Al Gore betrayed our country while playing on our fears. Looks like a late “ice out” on lake Winnipesaukee this year. Sigh. I can’t wait to splash our boat. Bring on the warming!

  4. Glad I don’t live in New England anymore, but Northern VA still sucks in March and early April. Today we are still getting the wind from that storm, blew the crap out of VA Beach last night. Here we get about a week of spring, and it just goes hot and dry.

I’ll be checking out that Pizza Place PHenry, I go to Green Top a “bit”, and bought my new RV at McGeorge. I usually just go to Arby’s 😀

  5. We should throw out a great places to eat thread some time. I know this ain’t the cooking channel but we all travel a bit.

Zona Blu in Westin FL is really great. Off the beaten track. Stumbled upon it while on business. Pecorino Romano soufflé with truffle was unbelievable.

Ok. I’ll stop. But man was that good.

  6. Here in rural GA, it seems like we have about and inch of pollen on cars and anything else sitting outside (and it’s just gettin’ started good). Does that count the same as snow?

  7. Here in Western Washington we are setting records for rain and cool temps. It doesn’t bother me though because I know it keeps 50 million Californians away. Now we just need to figure out how to get the Seattlites to move to California.

  8. Double thread jack which might get me banned. Just a reminder to Richmond Virginians that beer will be drank at innsbrook capital ale house by like minded iotw, ace of Spades, tea partiers this Saturday starting at 6. In the game room. We are family. I’ve got all my sisters with me.

  9. Triple thread jack, Volcano’s Pizza in Battle Creek, Michigan. I grew up there and it was my watering hole. Best pizza ever, but no one who didn’t grow up on it will like it. Hand tossed, normal toppings, but it doesn’t have a hard crust. Perfect whole cheese, so it’s a bit oily. But YUMMY!

  10. We have white Spiedie pizza. Ya’ll just don’t know.
So, upstate NY always has snow this time of the year. In fact, my Grampy always warned not to transplant before May 31. Nine out of ten years we get a hard frost or freezing rain at the end of May.

    Old Grampys know their shit.

  11. Zoar Burger. Lake Zoar Drive-in, Stevenson, CT. I have no idea what they put in it but even my Southern wife agrees it is unearthly. Just a roadside burger joint. If you go there in the Fall and eat outside you will get stung by Yellowjackets, adds to the ambience for a newbie. Beautiful drive to get there.

Sometimes hijacking is fun and informative. 🙂
