DC: California Republicans are mounting a campaign to motivate voters against a very unpopular gas tax increase Democrats passed in 2017.
Republican Reps. Kevin McCarthy and Mimi Walters of California are using a very unpopular gas tax increase to generate excitement among GOP votes. Both Republicans want to put a measure on the ballot that repeals the increase. They believe the campaign could increase voter turnout and staunch a blue wave in the state.
“We pay one of the highest gasoline taxes in the nation,” Walters told reporters Saturday, according to The Hill. “By the time you get to 2021, we’re going to be paying $2 a gallon for gasoline just in taxes, and we can’t do that for working families who have to travel for their job.”

California hides expenses by taxing income at a lower rate than it requires for it’s voracious government appetite (yet it still has one of the highest national rates). It taxes everything else out the wazoo to make up for the lowered rates so (ignorant) poor people think “I don’t care what it costs, someone else pays for it” while they pump gas at $2 more a gallon than the rest of us, housing is higher, food is higher….the list goes on.

Last gas stop on I-40 in Cal unleaded reg was $4.55 a gal 30 miles east in AZ the same gas was $2.65 a gal. Who is gouging?

89 proof unleaded is $3.49 a gallon locally. Diesel is $3.89. guess what I drive.
I hope they are successful, but demoncrat voting is a hard habit to break.
