16 Comments on Graham – “We have the votes, and that’s what’s coming”
I just saw this a few minutes ago and was going to share it on the other thread.
I doubt Lindsey would go on the record unless he was sure of the vote count.
I’ve had my hopes up and then dashed so many times this year so I hate to get too ebullient but boy oh boy, this plus a Trump win surely would cap an absolutely awful year.

Other sources are reporting the same. If Trumps confident we may be looking at Barret.

Be Ruthless.

My late moms name was Ruth. She was anything but Ruthless with a husband of 65 + years and 4 boys. She handled us all very well but she wouldn’t take guff from any of us and if we did she could hold her own and had a wicked backhand slap that would rattle your teeth out. Which I found out the hard way once when I didn’t turn the Woodstock album down fast enough as she was coming in the front door from work and it was the part where Country Joe McDonald shouted gimme an F. She heard that and smacked the snot out of me, I didn’t do it again.

Lindsey’s chance to redeem himself?

my 2 cents … I know you all are breathlessly awaiting my opine … lmao
Graham, imo, is talking about his committee … he’s the Chairwoman of the Senate Judiciary Committee … he’s ‘canvassed’ his republicans & they’ve all agreed to vote for PDT’s nominee because the com’rats are going to reject the nominee no matter whom it is …
they keep the hearings as tight as possible … frankly, it’s really up to Graham on how much she will allow the d’rats to go w/ the smears

Interesting. Ted Cruz was on this evening, Laura Ingraham’s show I think. Giving the history of votes to confirm a justice to SCOTUS during election years.
I don’t recall the exact numbers he gave, but there were several confirmation hearings, and the percentage of confirmations were high when the same party held both the senate and the presidency. If he provided which political parties succeeded most often, I missed it.
I think it was only 2 confirmations out of 10 attempts when the senate and presidency were split – held by different parties. If his history was accurate we’ve been feed a snow job that votes to confirm a new justice aren’t historically done.
Oh, he also didn’t mention a single attempt to confirm a new justice to honor a recently deceased justice’s last words for how the vote to replace them ought to be done. But then he wouldn’t bring it up if it had happened, which I don’t think it ever did. Sorry, I couldn’t find video of his interview.

M A he said he has the votes on the senate floor.
We will see. Hope he is right.
If the Republicans back down on this, the way they did on everything when they held both the House and the Senate as well as the Presidency, then there is no reason to reelect them. It won’t make any difference in anything but minor tweaks in the overall direction we are heading as a nation.
If you have the Democrats winning when you elect Democrats and the Democrats winning when you elect Republicans what difference does it make who you vote for?
Good to have this come up now, and force everyone to show their hand before the election instead of after it, so voters can make informed decisions about their vote.

After a horrible and depressing 8 years of the repulsive Obama it seems close to miraculous that not only do we have a man in office now that exceeds our hopes but how things are falling into line {Supreme Court} to bring normality back into alignment.

Now Ruthless Trump will give us grinnin Barrett.

Oh, look who’s playing Republican again!
Very telling that Graham would plug his campaign fundraising seamlessly into the middle of his response.
It almost sounds like he’s saying, “Quick! Send money or else.”

35 years ago my son asked me if I ever shot a Chicom in the back – YES. But how could you? Had I given the chinaman a chance he’d a shot me in the back; and then there’d be no you!
