After a domestic violence call, the shooter lays in wait, and opens fire immediately upon answering the door. Killing the officer.

His partner, at the car, calls to him, unsure if he is dead or alive. Then the shooter emerges from the apartment strangling his son.

A heroic bystander assisted the officer, leading to the fatal shooting of the suspect.

This is the kind of thing that people that have NO FUCKING CLUE what goes on during the blandly named “domestic disturbance” make absolutely stupid and dangerous statements about, withhold police from, and demonize those that have to deal with the reality of these situations when they DO have to act, make a split second decision that could result in death, even their OWN.

    I’m not a cop. Never was. Wouldn’t want to be. But as a medic I served beside them, transported them when it went wrong, tended their prisoners in jail, shared a small part of their dangers, know how quickly a victim can become an aggressor, seen the way an apartment hallway can become a gauntlet, and so can definitively state that this type of call is the MOST dangerous

    Why?

    Because you’re there with a mindset to HELP.

    There is a LEGITIMATE victim in these things, in this case, the young child. There always IS. You KNOW that going in, and it holds you back, focuses you on the victim instead of your PERSONAL peril.

    Because you have a civilized mind, it leads you to think “who would stop me from helping in injured child/woman/both, surely he’s sorry and also the injured party WANTS help?

    BZZZZ! WRONG! YOU LOSE ALL YOUR POINTS AND MAYBE YOUR LIFE!

    The cop here was focused on preservation of life. This led him away from thinking some evil bastard would be lurking in ambush to gun HIM down.

    You see the results.

    …dude could have as easily held the kid out like he did later, and shot the stunned cop from behind him. He obviously considered the child a meat shield at this point anyway, so why not?

    …doesn’t apply in this case, but it’s also a truism in domestics that if you move to deal with the assaulter, his VICTIM is likely to attack YOU, out of misplaced loyalty, fear of what will happen when he gets out (a very real fear-he WILL, and boy howdy won’t he be pissed THEN!), that you’re screwing up their meal ticket…it’s just BAD, it’s Stockholm Syndrome to the max and YOU’RE everyone’s bad guy.

    …and now, in our modern age, the media, your Mayor, your Chief, even the fucking pedophile pretending to be President of the United States stands ready to stab you in the back, sell you down the river, get YOUR family abused, and YOU get ass raped in prison for DOING YOUR DAMN JOB.

    I was ALWAYS glad our cops went before us to ANY call that they could, because sometimes those calls were not what they SEEMED.

    I don’t have the words to convey the sickening sense of danger in this, the terror that’s not even for yourself when it goes sideways, the ball of lead in the pit of your stomach when a laughing devil proves once more that you can’t save them all. The evil that the actual perpetrators do is bad enough.

    But no, let’s make it WORSE.

    With fucking POLITICIANS.

    They want to defund cops. Send medics out unescorted. Send fucking baby brain peepers to domestics, for fuck’s sake.

    Bastards.

    …there’s not a bad enough word in any language for the Democrats who not only do this, but DELIGHT in it. I can’t curse them enough, so I won’t even try.

    But there’s a bill to be paid. A very, VERY large one.

    And this unfortunate officers death will seem a happy one compared to THEIRS.

    This will end in blood. Blood enough to stick to the moon.

    And for the child.

    Dear heavenly Lord, we come before You today to implore You to send Your Comfortor to these afflicted by this heinous manifestation of evil. Father, we need You to protect them from hurt, harm, or danger, even from their own hand, as they are forced to relive these events again and again, and as the political minions of the devil try to bring hell against these people in service of their tawdry political goals. Lord, comfort these people and their families in their hour of need, that they may bury their dead and have the mercy of forgetfulness of what they have seen, but learn wisdom from it, as well as use the experience to draw closer to You, now and for the rest of their lives.

    And Lord, may Your swift justice fall on those who would take what is already tragic and turn it more evil, destroy those who would mock this death, obliterate those that both helped inspire this death and would strive to profit from it. Lord, if the hour does not draw nigh for Your return, please send us a leader of men who can put down this evil, marshal the unorganized that would oppose it, and restore at least the justice of men to this sin-sick land, that we may have respite for more to turn to You before the true end of Your coming.

    It is much to ask but we ask as You tell us to, hoping, praying, expecting that You will do all because You are mightier than all, and we ask it in the merciful, mighty Name of our Lord Jesus, Amen.

    WTF are you on about? YOU ever been there? He had a MILLION cautions running through HIS head, NONE of which had ANYTHING to do with the warrior mindset he NEEDED. He was worried about the victim, worried about being media cannon fodder, worried about escalation of force, all to the EXCLUSION of worrying about what was gonna pop out the door at him.

    Like he SHOULD have been.

    And his partner probably stayed back because some City policy about “not being too threatening” or some such 2021 shit. Who knows? YOU dont.

  19. Brad, I’ve been jumped during domestics, so yes, I DO know what I’m talking about. I’ve transported cops who’ve been injured during domestics, so yes, I DO know what I’m talking about. I’ve talked to cops personally and in CIS postmortem, so yes, I DO have some insight as to how cops think about it. We trained with cops and by cops about their concerns, our concerns, evidence concerns, what to do when they can’t respond with us, so yes, I DO know something about it. A little dated to be sure, but men’s evil hasn’t changed.

    And if you paid attention, I was saying that I thanked God that the cops went before me most times so I DIDN’T ever walk into a gun barrel. Could have easily, but they stopped it. That is the beginning, AND the end, of it “Being About Me”.

    …but come, you’ve not addressed my query to YOU. YOU seem knowledgeable about more modern police. YOU claim to train at the range with them, in those times when you’re making threads to be about YOU, Brad. YOU seem to think I’m off base and that I’m “cheapening” the point.

    So again, show us the way.

    Maybe you’re a sage for the ages. Maybe you’ve some insight.

You’re evidently not willing to elaborate your own views and only wish to denigrate those who do, although whether this is because you are in your cups as some posters say or are merely an asshole all the time as Willie has posited, only you know for sure. Either way, you have set yourself as the avatar of all things police here and will die rather than accept a viewpoint other than your own. Whichever, I’m not your therapist and I’m not interested further in the roots of your offense, or in seeing your further warrantless attacks on myself and on others. There were times that it seemed possible to have some semblance of a conversation with you, but no more.

    So congratulations. The thread is yours, for whatever that is worth to you. I’ll not bother with you any more, here or anywhere.
