Groundhog Day 2018: Punxsutawney Phil predicts 6 more weeks of winter

CBS-

Pennsylvania’s most famous groundhog has delivered his annual weather prediction. Punxsutawney Phil’s handlers announced Friday that the rodent saw his shadow, predicting six more weeks of winter.

At 7:18 a.m., just after sunrise, the rodent emerged from his lair to the cheers of thousands in the crowd. Those cheers turned to groans after the animal’s weather forecast, which comes amid a winter that has brought record-breaking freezing temperatures across the U.S. — not to mention a powerful winter storm known as a “bomb cyclone.”

  1. Why must they bug the poor little guy, rousting him outta his hole before dawn with flood lights? He should be predicting 6 more weeks of rabies shots for as many of the assholes he can chew on.
I got a calendar, winter is here for almost 7 more weeks anyway you slice it…..leave Phil alone.

  2. Well Glendale George definitely didn’t see his shadow today as the sun’s blocked by heavy lake-effect clouds, so we’re gonna have an early spring here in southwest Michigan!

  3. We’re due for our “February thaw” – that strange period in February when the jet stream in the Northern Hemisphere shifts temporarily. It almost always happens out west – and here it comes.

  4. Vietvet,
I don’t know what to say … uhh … write … uhh … phew … I guess I’ll go outside in the 25F and smoke a cigar and contemplate that … the meaning, not the image …

    izlamo delenda est …
