  2. You reach a point where you get your priorities aligned properly.
Me, I’m still sewing my wild oats. I have a variety of outdoor cooking devises, grills, smokers etc. But I’ll settle down eventually.

  3. Bought my first grill this summer. Yes, it was like going through bar mitzvah, yes I felt like a man, no, I have no idea what to cook besides steak or hamburger.

Still……. they are the best dang steaks I’ve ever had.

If you don’t fire it up tonight
    I’m gonna lose my mind
And I will steal it tonight
And I will treat it kind

  6. Ha-ha, last night Mr. Kakalogical and I were watching a movie. There was a kitchen scene, food cooking in pots on the range, and all the fixin’s for dinner prepped.
The main characters start kissing, which was obviously going to lead to sex. I was more interested in what was going to happen with the food cooking. I was also happy that they left the kitchen to complete the act! Don’t do that around an open flame people!!

  7. I also heartily endorse the Big Green Egg! Everyone thinks I’m a great cook, when all I do is put the food on the egg and don’t ever touch it again until it’s time to take it off the grill.

  8. I’ve cooked steak on a grill, an open fire, even on the bare campfire coals (see Eisenhower’s Steak). The best way to cook a steak is in a cast iron pan on a gas range. Perfect sear, never dries out, easy to test for perfect degree of done-ness.

In Seattle-land you don’t have to stand outside in the rain to cook a perfect steak.

  9. @ Abigail Adams….cast iron pan seared on a grill with a smoker box. Finished with a butter and thyme basting…..Now, that’ll make your tongue slap your brain silly!….

  10. I fry my steaks in a very hot covered cast iron skillet, about two minutes per side (adjust time, not temperature. Practice makes perfect.) When the steak is done I throw some Bush’s beans into the skillet, along with some chopped red onion and a dash of Pico Pica hot sauce.
    A satisfying meal in minutes!

P.S.- Steam your corn on the cob, don’t boil it! About 5 minutes is all it takes.
