You have a better chance of moving cargo ships through the Suez Canal right now than advancing gun reform through the Senate.
Elizabeth Esty wasn’t even Rep. Esty in December 2012 when she had to appear at “one of those news conferences.”
At that stage, she was Rep.-elect Elizabeth Esty, D-Conn. But events thrust her into the familiar spotlight that lawmakers often find themselves in the day after a mass shooting.
“This Congress has not shown the courage to pass commonsense gun reforms,” said Esty the day after the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn. “It is not too late for this Congress to do better. And now is the time.”
But, as Esty and others would learn, it wasn’t.
Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., Esty’s predecessor in the House, found himself at one of “those” press conferences in early October 2017. It was just a few days after a gunman opened fire on a country music concert, just off the Vegas Strip.
“We are here today to say that enough is enough,” declared Murphy.
But it wasn’t enough.
“The time for talk is over,” said the current Health and Human Services Secretary and then-Rep. Xavier Becerra, D-Calif., just after the 2018 slaughter at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. “It’s time to act.”
But it still wasn’t. more here
Enough is enough. Put guns in the hands of more responsible citizens and eliminate all gun-free zones.
I can think of an Uber driver who needed one a few days ago.
Require IQ tests Becerra and Murphy and the other Uniparty gun-grabbers.
No one will test over 84. Case closed.
The hypocrisy of using your 1st amendment rights to trash the 2nd amendment rights of others is one of the most despicable things a demon can do.
Be careful what you wish for, bitch
Best part is the FIB had all these mass murderers on their “radar” and did nothing. I guess it’s because they were all democrats rather then Conservative white supremacists.
I expect the new gun control efforts will be accomplished by Executive Order.
The same way Trump did when he ordered bump stocks declared as being machine guns by themselves even though they could not load or fire a single round by themselves and didn’t change the weapon from semi to full automatic to meet the NFA standards for being a machine gun.
“Put guns in the hands of more responsible citizens …. .”
That’s what these laws are intended to do, their purpose is to determine who is and who isn’t a “responsible citizen” that should be allowed to own one.
(A hint here: You and most of the rest of us are not going to be among them.)
This ridiculous article just shows how far to the left Fox News has drifted. Instead of cheering that the second amendment might survive a few more years (albeit badly damaged), the author of this piece is whining the “nothing is being done” . How about a fair and balanced article that shows that none of the recent killing would have been stopped by the proposed legislation? Go to hell Fox.
Guns, when in the hands of the people, have always been a threat to corrupt governments. Guns are the teeth of liberty. A government that attempts to disarm the people doesn’t deserve to exist.
“Gun reform”?
I prefer the term “victim disarmament”.
Don’t misread my syntax. Put guns in the hands of more citizens. Remove “responsible” if that helps.
I get it.
They are trying to lull 2nd Amendment supporters into believing everything is fine so they can force a change while we aren’t paying attention.
“This ridiculous article just shows how far to the left Fox News has drifted.”
It reflects how far to the left this country, including conservatives, has drifted.
Consider how far John Kennedy, a Leftist of his time, would be considered strongly or extreme right wing today and you’ll see how long and steadily this drift has been happening.
The new “conservative” is what used to be considered the liberal left.
Why do conservatives and/or Republicans always allow the left to define the terminology? “Gun reform” is anything but reform. It is nothing more than restricting the Second Amendment rights of LAW-abiding citizens (gun restriction, gun banning, gun confiscation are better terms). It’s like we let the left call our position on abortion “anti-choice”. We should call their position “pro-infanticide”.
When you consider the number of Americans that own guns versus the number of times politicians have stepped on, removed or otherwise assaulted our liberties and there has yet to be an uprising…I think it’s self evident that American gun owners are self-restrained, competent and patient.
I’m not interested in reading what Unfair and Imbalanced Fox News has to say about anything.

You’re exactly right. A no brainer. However one more step needs to be taken. If you’re licensed to carry you need relief from prosecution should you need to pull your weapon. When Gabby Gifford was shot there were no less than three CCWs in that parking lot. When asked why none of them pulled their weapons they all replied they were scared of prosecution or a law suit.
Speaking of Gifford. Here’s a recent picture of her astro nut hubby shooting a Glock. MoFos’s Tea Cupping. LOL

“Gun Reform”?
They gonna send all the guns to re-education camps?
@ Tony R: Sounds almost as though Tuck Choad (h/t BFH) wrote that piece, doesn’t it? Oh! Wait! Choad can’t write, can he? Must have been Chrissy Wallass…
The ONLY reason they want to disarm us is because they plan on doing something we will surely shoot them for.
Give it couple of weeks. Most of the Republicans in DC will find a way to cave.
