In Thurston County, Washington, if you want to open a business on land that has gophers on it (what are the odds?)
you must pay a tax for their protection and  preservation.   Inspectors will also come around to take  a gopher count. How much will this all cost?

  6. Yes, Mr. _Brad – As a teenager, it was my job to keep the property clear of the little bastids. A .303 Brit was my choice back then. Fuzzy little red explosions.

  7. Re-accomodate the varmints. Move them to state /federal land where they will be safe and protected.
    There is also the ‘airedale alternative’. I’ve found spots that look like a mortar had gone off after a ‘dale dog had ‘found out what’s in there.’ And they work quietly.

  8. Olympia, the state Capitol of Washington is in Thurston County. Also, what may be the most liberal college (The Evergreen State College) in the country is in Thurston County. They are nuts there.

    Or, get a “can” put on a .22LR rifle or pistol for closer work. It takes a little time to get the permit but it’s a helluva lot less than $42,000.

  17. I live in Thurston County. During the Obuttwipe years, (I believe) the EPA attempted to find a critter they could list as endangered in every place that would allow it. Slimebag Lib Gov Inslee of course jumped at this.

    I built my home in 2003. But in 2012 or so my builder told me this scam was laid in place. He explained you could buy a piece of property, planning to build your dream home. But when you contacted a builder, you were told you had to have the inspection for precious gophers, of which there are millions, but the EPA claims this sliver subspecies isn’t abundant. The objective here is really to shut down all development.

    So, you submit to the inspection…because you have no choice…. and then you find out it can only occur in late summer or fall …… and you need an appointment…. so you could be waiting a year just to get your inspection.

    He told me then, that if a gopher was found on your property, you could forget EVER building on it, or SELLING it because No One else can build on it either. You had just bought a little nature preserve…. and you may have paid hundreds of thousands for it.

    This scam on the tax was a part I hadn’t heard. WA King county has STOLEN several governors races. Until someone can get in there and stop that criminal enterprise, I don’t know if you can get this fixed. Well, with Pruitt in the EPA, maybe they can knock it out that way.

    As with all things, libstains are flat out psychotic. They dream this shit up and can’t comprehend what is wrong with what they’ve done.

  30. We had these assholes start this crap in Texas. Ranchers instigated the SSS Rule. So the watermelons applied the ESA to habitat–don’t even have to find the bug, bird or fish on your land.

    I want them to reintroduce wolves, bear and lions back into Travis County, and open season on commies.

  35. We have gophers, owls, salmon, oysters, trees, salamanders, frogs, squirrels, sagebrush, sage grouse, smelt, lamprey, bears, caribou, butterflies, sand dunes, rocks, dirt, and who knows what else on the endangered list. Take a look at your own state you will be amazed at what is on it.
    Well maybe not dirt, but who knows.

    Oregon is going to use their pro-gopher jihad to destroy businesses owned by right wing White people.

    They need to just start disappearing. The gophers, too.

  37. AC, and to all, watch California. We’ve officially reached the tipping point. Libs are eating their own. It may take another year of two but we are well on the way to emploding. Or, when is a law not a law? When LEO won’t enforce it and when the public pays no attention to it.

  40. Caught one in the pasture trap this morning. What’s the address I can send the dead little fu…pest to after they cause hundreds of dollars in damage and repair? Rabbits too.

    Wouldn’t you love to send a box of dead gophers to these morons in a non-cooled container, no overnight, let it take the regular ground time of arrival?

  41. BigGun, We’ e gone through a lot of cats. Rattlers, Coyotes, owls and Hawks have taken their toll. The three that have survived are like Navy Seals. They’ll wait days at a Mole Hole for the kill. I watched one of them kill a 12 inch rattler last week. One of them will not eat cat food. She feeds herself. Paradoxically she’s the only one that wants any interaction with people.
