Former secretary of state and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton suffered a ‘heartbreaking’ defeat in a head-to-head legal knowledge quiz… to Kim Kardashian.
The reality TV megastar bested former lawyer Clinton 11-4 in the quiz during an episode of the former First Lady’s upcoming ‘Gutsy’ documentary, which she co-hosts with her daughter Chelsea.
The round of questions covered the use of deadly force, when a claim of self defense is permissible, and the difference between extortion and robbery.ย
‘Under what circumstances may one use deadly force to defend themselves?’ quizmaster Chelsea is shown asking the two contestants for their first question.
Kardashian – wearing a leather coat and matching gloves – is shown pressing her buzzer, and answering: ‘When one is being faced with deadly force themselves, or believes deadly force is immanent’. The scoreboard is shown ticking over to 1-0.
Prior to becoming first lady in 1993 and later secretary of state in 2009, Hillary Clinton was a herself practicing lawyer and a partner at a law firm, having earned a Juris Doctor (Doctor of Law) from Yale Law School in 1973.
But despite her credentials, the preview clip for Gutsy – previewed by PEOPLE magazine – saw Hillary Clinton bested by Kardashian in the quiz.
The clip shows an exasperated Clinton watching Kardashian pressing the buzzer several more times, and by the end, the scoreboard shows 11-4 in Kim’s favor.
‘Oh it was heartbreaking!’ Clinton told an interviewer from PEOPLE. ‘I think she also needs to work on her reaction time,’ Chelsea cuts in. ‘Sometimes I could see my mom knew what the answer was but she wouldn’t bit the buzzer in time.’
Hillary adds jokingly: ‘Well I was also really intrigued by how well she did. I wanted to, you know, put the spotlight on her – not that she needs it! – but she worked really hard.’
The interviewer is heard asking: ‘You’re not saying you let her win…’ to which Hillary replies: ‘No I’m not saying that, I’m not saying that. It was more the reaction time,’ she adds, with a wry smile.
Chelsea again insists her mother should have worked on her reaction time, before the clip shows Kim hitting the buzzer several times as the scoreboard ticks over to 11 to four. ‘Mom, you made a good effort,’ Chelsea jokes, as Kardashian celebrates.
‘I think Kim has an unfair advantage,’ Hillary told PEOPLE. Offering her mother a conciliation, Chelsea tells her: ‘Kim has studied more recently than you.’
The documentary – which airs on Apple TV+ on September 9 – will show the Clintons traveling the country with her daughter and speaking to inspiring women.
Maybe Kim Kardashian could work in Trumps administration. I can hear him now, “far smarter than Hillary, isn’t it amazing folks?”

The Clinton family would like to extend its respects to the Kardashian family for the unexpected loss of dear Kim who claimed her own life without warning last night. We, along with the nation, are saddened by this loss. Kim’s family and freinds ask that reporters and coroners respect their privacy during this difficult time, and ask that in lieu of flowers that mourners make substantial donations to The Clinton Foundation if they know what’s good for them.
This was a lose-lose situation for Killary.
