Hit, Drag and Run – IOTW Report

Hit, Drag and Run

An ex-New Jersey police officer was driving intoxicated while still in his Halloween costume and struck and killed a pedestrian early on November 1, 2021.

He was given a five-year jail term.

According to the prosecution, instead of helping the injured nurse, Damian Dymka, 29, Louis Santiago, 26, went home to think about what to do. The weird part is he put the deceased in his car. He later returned with the corpse in his vehicle.

He entered a guilty plea to three charges, including second-degree vehicular murder. At a hearing on Wednesday, the ex-Newark police officer expressed regret for his “inexcusable” behavior.

Andrzej Dymka, the victim’s father, reportedly told the man he forgives him, saying, “Thank God you’re still alive. And now is the time to make changes in your life.”

He said he had his fingers crossed for him.
