Well I live on the West Coast and when we had our home built we put the biggest wood stove we could find in. This year we were going to replace it with a natural gas unit but with the games they’ve been playing with ANY fuel we decided to give the wood stove a tune up and go get a couple cords. Shit gets real bad we can cook on it.
I’ve already hauled in 4 cords with one waiting in the Suburban and another by the wood pile. I figure two more after that, if we can fit it in the basement. Nothing quite as comforting as wood heat in January. – Dr. Tar

I remember as a kid in the 60s We would siphon home heating oil out of our tank, and put it into the fuel tanks of the B model Mack out back. No road tax on home heating oil aka #1 diesel.

I can heat my house for more than a week on an old piano, check craigslist, there are always free ones.
However, it is waaay easier to get wood out of a tree.
They try and pin you down anyway they can. I live in one of the very few counties in Cali that you can heat with a wood stove. All that pollution ya know. It’s fucking wood smoke. Smells good. I use it for cologne. Well that and bacon fat.

NY state has a 4 percent heat tax, I about shit myself when the guy delivered fuel oil the first time after moving into my house, in Pa a couple hundred yards from the NY border. I didn’t have to pay it
Crush the middle class. Make people go to the govt to save them. That seems to be their plan.
Heating oil is currently $5.50 gal. That’s $1100 to fill a tank.
Heating season isn’t quite upon us either.
K1 is being rationed. New accounts opening are being allowed every couple of weeks.
Propane is around $7 gal.
Even firewood is up there at $300 for a cord of green wood with a min of 2 cords unless you find someone who’s clearing a lot or sells on the side.
