House Republicans Want an Extra $25,000 a Month for Personal Security

CTH

Republicans in the House threatened to withhold votes if Speaker Mike Johnson did not pass an enhanced House Member Security Funding Bill that includes a payment of $25,000/month per lawmaker to hire their own private security. This is in addition to the pre-existing security packages the House members receive.

The monthly funds would be designated for use hiring private security when the representatives are not in Washington DC. It is the republican wing pushing this demand. More

  1. So – you pass laws that deprive normal people from self-protection in certain jurisdictions, advocate soft on crime policies and skew crime statistics that identify the real problems and try and convince citizens that “things are great”. Then you expect heightened security for yourselves at taxpayer expense. If I desire heightened security I have to pay for it myself. And, I don’t have the benefit of “donations” (payoffs) over and above my regular salary/income. Pay for it yourselves bloodsuckers. And by the way, if things are so bad that you need additional security how about working on laws and policies that would reduce crime. Hell, you don’t do much else except spending most of your time finding new ways to further enrich yourselves.

  2. $25K PER Kongress Kritter PER month?
Not only NO, but F**ckin’ Hell No!
You want to be “secure”, then get a gun, or pay for it out of your own pocket.

  3. Just spit balling here, but if members of Congress actually worked as hard to represent the interests of the voters who put them into office than they did to line their own pockets, they wouldn’t need “enhanced security”.
