Cleaning out the barn looks more appetizing then this.

…the best part with cane sugar is going out into dank fields with a machete and a bunch of idiots that also have machetes, and making snakes and rats mad. Making people do this toppled Haiti’s government over and over, and it was such despised work that Castro and his heirs dump as much as they can on the Venceremos Brigade, idiot Communist American college students who are fool enough to do this because, Solidarity!
They make it out of beets in my part of the country.

That’s a pretty gross process but appropriate for the poison it is. I have a 5 lb bag I’ve been working on since I moved out of CO and that was in 2014.

Sugar ants must be a real pain in the ass.

Fascinating. Each process uses big machines that someone had to dream up and then engineer.
Sorry, pure fiction. Most of what we in the USA call “sugar” comes from processed corn products. The absolute worst of the worse.

A lot of the same equipment like circular clarifiers and centrifuges are used in sewage treatment (or “water reclamation” as the govt. refers to it to hide what it actually is from the general public). In some ways it is a similar process in that you are removing solids from a slurry of sorts. I suspect that the sugar processing plant smells much better than the sewage treatment plant though.
The smell from a sewage plant permeates your clothing and stays until the clothes are washed in hot water and a lot of detergent. The only benefit I found with this was that it was really easy to get an airplane seat by yourself after spending the day in a sewage plant.
I use sugar for my hummingbirds. I did use sugar for cinnamon toast, back when I did such terrible shit. We should avoid sugar. It stinks and feeds cancer.

Forget about splitting atoms, just process sugar instead – same amount of frikin work

Years and years ago I went into a meat packing plant, when I was a teen they had tours. It took me many, many years before I could ever eat link sausage, hot dogs, or bologna again.

How did you end up down this bunny hole?

I guess for beet sugar they have a very effective way of getting the red out.

Sugar is sweet.
If you ignore the taste of leftist oppression…

They forgot to mention what they do to the cane fields before harvesting:

Not very “carbon friendly”, is it?
