There’s something wonderfully ironic about “Rule the World” in Classic Latin. It kind of puts a happy face on the utter destruction of Carthage, Corinth and Jerusalem and the extinction of countless tribal people. The next time you find yourself thinking of the Roman Empire (and let’s be honest guys, we all do from time to time) just keep this toe tapping little ditty in the back of your mind. Listen
I stumbled on the Gladiator training process on one of the old school weight lifter sites I visit. It rivals what our current MMA guys do. Shockingly advanced.

Every statue of an ancient Roman man, at least prior to AD 1, showed them to be ultra serious gents, with visages as spare as the trim Latin Language. No funny stuff, no embellishment, no smiling. Not much fun in those days, if you weren’t upper class. if you weren’t upper class you would have liked Gladiatorial Combat or the merciless killing of animals in the Coliseum, or the chariot races.
OTOH, Romans liked plays, some of them funny.
Bonum pulsu, facile saltare, decem do.

Archeologists have found the site and have excavated bones, equipment, coins, weapons. It’s in the Teutoburg Forest.
3 years of Latin in High School. Outstanding cover of the song.
Sum lumen projectum nauta,
Sum lumen projectum nauta.
Vescar spinacco,
Ad finem pugnabo
Sum lumen projectum nauta! Toot toot!
