Washington DC created the modern national security apparatus immediately and hurriedly after 9/11/01. The Department of Homeland Security came along in 2002, and within the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) was formed.
When President Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder arrived a few years later, those newly formed institutions were viewed as opportunities to create a very specific national security apparatus that would focus almost exclusively against their political opposition.
The preexisting Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Dept of Justice (DOJ) were then repurposed to become two of the four pillars of the domestic national security apparatus – a domestic surveillance state. However, this new construct would have a targeting mechanism based on political ideology.

I’ve read elsewhere that de-funding will not work. I’ve read the only way to kill this beast in number one, win an election. And then appoint your loyal directors with their staff. After that you start reassigning personal to the most boring meaningless jobs that the Federal Government has to offer. Until they finally quit. I dunno. But somethings got to be done. In another four years these people are going to make the KGB look like a humanitarian organization.
The FBI and CIA are way older than that. The Police State is at least as old as Prohibition in 1920.
This is why 9/11 was a deep state ops. To get in place the tools they needed.

Liberals/socialists/communists create police states at every opportunity. It’s what they do.
I don’t know why we expect the ideas expressed in our Declaration of Independence, the Preamble to the Constitution and the Bill Of Rights (which had never been codified before in the history mankind) will last forever in the hearts and minds of our countrymen.
To use a computer analogy, it’s like the human race can not ‘boot up’ and stay booted up. We have to crash periodically. We are not stable – and probably not sustainable, either, in the long-term picture of life on Earth.
I’m sorry I won’t be here for the next reboot.
