‘I Didn’t Want to Go Through the Rioting’: Juror in Chauvin Trial Makes Stunning Admission over ‘Guilty’ Verdict

Becker News-

On Tuesday, a jury found Derek Chauvin guilty of second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in a case that had sparked nationwide riots: The death of George Floyd.

During the course of the trial, Judge Peter Cahill mentioned that the court case was getting dangerously close to mistrial. A new interview with an alternate juror named  Lisa Christensen, who lives in Brooklyn Center, provides new insight into the courtroom dynamics.

“I just had a fascinating sit-down interview with one of the alternate jurors in the Derek Chauvin trial,” Kare 11 reporter Lou Raguse said Thursday on Twitter.

“Lisa Christensen was the juror who lived in Brooklyn Center. One night she could hardly make it home after testimony ended because of protesters blocking intersections.” read more

  3. One more reason this should be overturned. I can’t help but think that this is what the jury had in mind.

I still don’t understand how one defendant with one victim can be convicted on three different levels of criminal homicide. Add to that the fact that the things that make murder murder and not manslaughter are that murder and manslaughter are mutually exclusive.

  9. What’s the over/under for a successful appeal/mistrial?

I’d say it’s a pretty good chance. If it isn’t, we are getting closer to the complete collapse of America.

  10. “What’s the over/under for a successful appeal/mistrial?”

Certainly not a post trial statement by an alternate juror that wasn’t a participant in the verdict.

Maxine Waters statement would be far more likely to be considered that way than an alternate jurors personal statement after the trial was over.

  11. We have just watched a trial with the reincarnation of Vasily Ulrikh as judge and a resurrected Andre Vashinsky as prosecutor. Comrade Stalin doesn’t approve of juries but the verdict has his seal of approval.
