I Just Bought a Dozen Eggs at Walmart for 88 Cents

How could the price have dropped from 5 dollars a dozen to 88 cents a dozen?

What happened?

  1. Do you suppose ‘they’ finally figured out that “BIDENOMICS” might just NOT be something to hook onto as a campaign slogan?

Naw, their not that bright. Probably Walmart figured lowering a price on a vital food will bring in customers.

  2. Like so many other things it was a short-term thing, highly exacerbated by excessive news coverage.
Of course if the gov’t would just get its fat fingers out of everything, the ‘Invisible Hand’ that Adam Smith described is really, really effective.

  3. It takes a few months to restore diseased/culled flocks, especially if breeding flocks were culled, but once the system is up and running again, scarcity is gone. It’s too close to the 2024 elections to continue with scarcity pricing.

  4. Saw them for $1.18 in my area but I get mine from a coworker.
In my opinion a much better egg and I’m not planning to buy store-bought again if possible.

  5. Let’s see now…I read several times how egg yolk was supposedly good for fighting covid. Then, eggs skyrocketed to over 8 bucks a dozen in north Florida. Chicken farms were being burned to the ground, as well as other food processing plants. Now, they are practically giving eggs away with the reduction in price. Yeah, shove your mRNA tainted eggs up your ass you bunch of elite fucks.

  6. @aircubed, likely they are fed poor quality, cheap food. We had chickens for a long, long time and I fed them quality feed, let them free range every day, gave them kitchen scraps. They were very healthy and happy and laid big eggs with sturdy shells, deep golden orange yolks that didn’t flatten when the shells were cracked open and albumen that was not runny. The chickens were not inexpensive to keep but the eggs were excellent. Plus, the garden was practically pest free; the chickens were busy all day on pest patrol!

  7. Here in MA, eggs are about $2.50/dz, I think mostly because MA enacted a “only cage free” law a couple of years ago. Fortunately for us, we live a few minutes from NH, where I spent $0.98/dz a few days ago at ALDIs.

  8. What Conservative Cowgirl mentions is exactly the difference I noticed with the eggs I get from my coworker. Much sturdier yolk and able to flip eggs in the pan again without breaking yolk all the time. Now I don’t have to wash a spatula.

  9. Some of those chickens live in a building their whole lives with just feed and water being filtered in and some waste filtered out somehow. I’ve seen one near a CAFO cattle place in Michigan. It looks like people don’t go in there. What a pathetic life and quality of the eggs not so high in there like when they eat some bugs and get fresh air, sunshine, etc.

  10. @Nifter, I got some duck eggs from a neighbor one time; they really had a very different taste! Kind of strong flavor; probably from their pond feeding habits! They would take some getting used to and I don’t know about baking with them. 🤔

  11. Free range eggs are generally $3.00 a dozen in NE Ohio. i noticed Eggland’s Best are under $2.50 at Marc’s.

Now gasoline – WTF!?! The Midwest cost has risen. Yesterday at Shell 89 was $4.00 a gallon.

  12. God, y’all have the memory of a turd.
Last year there was the whole Tractor Supply chicken feed fiasco where the purena feed mix was bad and the local farmers culled thier flocks because they stopped laying eggs.
And wouldn’t you know it, round that same time purine signed an exclusive agreement with the soon to be (in 6-9 months) largest commercial egg producer in the country… holy shit, it’s been 9 months and wouldn’t you know it, eggs are finally cheap again…

Wow folks, you’re being duped because you can’t remember what happened in the past because it’s not in your social media feed anymore. It’s been cycled out

  13. We have 10 hens, haven’t bought eggs at the store in I don’t know how long. We started feeding them Kalmbach Henhouse Reserve feed a few months back, now they won’t eat anything else, and egg production has gone up a little. Gas, on the other hand…

If you pass Lexington and Bunker Hill (the Higlands)and see a blond’ blue eyed big guy (6’2″; 250 lbs) in a kilt playing the pipes say Hi! that my baby!

Not crazy. Just a proud celt. for you

anglos that is said Kelt! As Sean is said See Ann. Not Seltic not Shawn. In Celtic we have several spellings for Anglo Shaun; 3 mots common are: Shaun, shaan and Shawn. In Celtic (Galiec)Sean is said See Ann! I was in Glasgow 24 years ago when Connerly was blasted for anglicizing his name; no Scotchman you!, Shawn

Again If ya see the Ladd SAY HI!
Soon he will play AMAZING GRACE for me!

  15. @Jarhead, Ivwill keep an eye out whenever I am over there! He shouldn’t be hard to spot. 😁 I live at the coast and have seen a guy playing bagpipes on the bluffs overlooking the ocean. Maybe it was him! That would be something!
