It’s fun when you look at everything through the Obama lens.
This one makes perfect sense to me.
For the first time in American history, music from the past outsells the current year’s offerings.
PEOPLE ARE NOSTALGIC FOR THE PAST!!!
Music freezes your life in amber. Hear a song and it brings you back to a different time and place.
It’s obvious to me people would rather live in that different time and place rather than the Obama-age.
One can make America Great Again by putting on your headphones, leaning back, closing your eyes, and living in that better past just for a little while.

My family listens to the 40s station on Sirius XM – at home and in the car, for most of the day.
It’s AWESOME! Like being transported back in time.
My kids are 4 and 5 and their favorite singers are Frank and Bing.
Let me take you back where I been from, let me take you back.
Let me take you back where I been from, brother won’t you take me back.
I’ve only started listening to the 40’s for the last three or four years. My wife, one daughter, her husband are “country” fans. I just can’t handle another song ’bout ‘drinkin’ n devorce”. To mean it’s just “hip hop” with a different accent glorifying negative stereotypes.
But I did have a mental conversation with myself about how much more positive the music of the past was. Even with the world tearing itself apart in the 40’s the music was upbeat and merry for the most part.
Ditto for the 50’s, 60’s and to a lessor extent the 70’s. The “blues” is one thing, but not everything has to be about the worst aspects of life.
So, yea, I can see the old music being more popular. People need a break from being told how guilty they should be for being white, and having enough to eat, etc.
Ever think that maybe new music is just no good…?
🙂
I only watch tv pre 1960. No open gays and only one or two blacks.
I imagine the same holds true for TV. RetroTV, MeTv, Antenna TV, Buzzr, GetTv, Cozi…all stations which show vintage television programs and movies that don’t have profanity, vile sexuality and other overt filth and remind you of how great America used to be.
I couldn’t sing the lyrics to a song from the past twenty or so years if my life depended on it.
Young people are too saddled with their student debt loans to buy music. (Also, there are many ways to get it free.)
Good music never goes stale. A lot of the music I listen to was recorded before I was born.
Bad music (most of today’s shit) is rotten right out of the box.
Johnny Carson will be back on MeTv tonight. Looking forward to watching it.
Probably do a lot of good to forget about Beyoniqua and go back to this for a lot of households.

I love MeTV, Carol Burnett is on too, I just can’t stay up that late like I used to haha
“It’s fun when you look at everything through the Obama lens.
I try to look through the ‘Obama lens’, I really do. But, every time I try to look it’s just so sort of Black Hole in the shape of a wrinkled starfish …. what does that mean?
You need to watch “Amos and Andy”. There were more than two blacks, but was classic comedy.

absolutely love Sinatra …. Dean Martin too …. Deano’s voice could make any tune sound good.
Never did dig Crosby …never got over his pants being up to his chest in ‘White Christmas’ since I was a kid…. great set of pipes though
That was when the majority of households had a papa in the house….. and good music.
There are places I’ll remember all my life, though some have changed. Some forever, not for better. Some have gone and some remain.
Yep!, I lived through some of the best that America has had to offer and it’s beyond description to see what the liberals have done to this country. And worse, they are too stupid to know what damage they have done.
Simply that today’s music
for the most part, sucks.
1980’s tunes = Ronald Reagan.

Occam’s Razor: The simplest answer is often correct.
Much of today’s music sounds like poop coming from a bunch of A-holes.
New music yet old music….yeah, there is good new music…I miss the late night DJ… https://youtu.be/2ILyI5PR_nA
Foghorn Leghorn – “Bup bup bup bup bup bup bup…Doo Dah, Doo Dah!…”
I almost hate to admit this. Miami Vice reruns. Economically those were my best times. And somebody ran Don Johnson through some serious pistol shit for the day. Some good music too.
As a kid, I used to listen to Amos and Andy on the radio when it was done by white guys. That’s how old I am.
?
I see what you mean by “new music, yet old music.” I just played that video and my wife asked from the other room whether it was something new, or something old. She thought it was vintage, old time Tennessee music.
Valerie June is a beautiful woman, but that head of Medusa’s dreadlocks is distracting.
“Pilsner Panther’s collection of over 12,000 vintage sound recordings. … downloads are always 100% free. ”
