I Like To Think This is a Statement About Obama and the State of America Today

It’s fun when you look at everything through the Obama lens.

This one makes perfect sense to me.

For the first time in American history, music from the past outsells the current year’s offerings.

PEOPLE ARE NOSTALGIC FOR THE PAST!!!

Music freezes your life in amber. Hear a song and it brings you back to a different time and place.

It’s obvious to me people would rather live in that different time and place rather than the Obama-age.

One can make America Great Again by putting on your headphones, leaning back, closing your eyes, and living in that better past just for a little while.

  1. I’ve only started listening to the 40’s for the last three or four years. My wife, one daughter, her husband are “country” fans. I just can’t handle another song ’bout ‘drinkin’ n devorce”. To mean it’s just “hip hop” with a different accent glorifying negative stereotypes.

But I did have a mental conversation with myself about how much more positive the music of the past was. Even with the world tearing itself apart in the 40’s the music was upbeat and merry for the most part.

Ditto for the 50’s, 60’s and to a lessor extent the 70’s. The “blues” is one thing, but not everything has to be about the worst aspects of life.

So, yea, I can see the old music being more popular. People need a break from being told how guilty they should be for being white, and having enough to eat, etc.

  2. I imagine the same holds true for TV. RetroTV, MeTv, Antenna TV, Buzzr, GetTv, Cozi…all stations which show vintage television programs and movies that don’t have profanity, vile sexuality and other overt filth and remind you of how great America used to be.

I couldn’t sing the lyrics to a song from the past twenty or so years if my life depended on it.

I try to look through the ‘Obama lens’, I really do. But, every time I try to look it’s just so sort of Black Hole in the shape of a wrinkled starfish …. what does that mean?

  4. absolutely love Sinatra …. Dean Martin too …. Deano’s voice could make any tune sound good.
Never did dig Crosby …never got over his pants being up to his chest in ‘White Christmas’ since I was a kid…. great set of pipes though

  5. Yep!, I lived through some of the best that America has had to offer and it’s beyond description to see what the liberals have done to this country. And worse, they are too stupid to know what damage they have done.

  6. I almost hate to admit this. Miami Vice reruns. Economically those were my best times. And somebody ran Don Johnson through some serious pistol shit for the day. Some good music too.

  7. I see what you mean by “new music, yet old music.” I just played that video and my wife asked from the other room whether it was something new, or something old. She thought it was vintage, old time Tennessee music.

Valerie June is a beautiful woman, but that head of Medusa’s dreadlocks is distracting.
