Terri Fine says that saying Merry Christmas or Chanukah is exclusionary to many people, so it must be done away with. (How come she doesn’t list all the other holidays, like Kwanzaa and Ramadan, and all the other holidays I don’t give a sh!t about? They aren’t exclusionary?)
In an effort to be inclusive (why is this an ideal, again?) she suggests, like a good little statist, that we say “Happy Federal Holiday” instead.
How is this inclusive? I don’t work for the state. I’ve worked on Christmas. What kind of bullshitty exclusionary divisive language is this? I’m offended, deeply, deeply offended. I resent that I will never experience the joy of being paid by the state for a day off so I can sit around all day and whine and complain about something, anything.
Rate My Professor:
-This teacher is horrible. Her grading is horrible you need to write her essay tests the way SHE wants it written. If you don’t then you get an F. She goes off on tangents all the time, and her notes are useless. She expects you to write what you think is important for the tests. Do yourself a favor and do not take her.
-DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! Her assignments have ridiculously low word counts and she makes you cram in an certain amount of “references” into the essays. She is also not clear about the instructions for her assignments. She turned a subject I love into something I loathed.
-sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks…. shall i go on? run for your lives, students!!!!!! 🙁
-Do not take a course from this professor if you are male or a good student. She enjoys feeling superior, and will not give you a good grade. She refuses to help you with work or even explain her grading requirements. Grading has nothing to do with writing quality, content, or original thought – just her opinion of you and how she feels that day.
-She hates men. I didn’t believe it (as a female), until I witnessed the disparagement of male students. Not a good professor to take — for either knowledge or a grade.
-she act like her students have no other classes or job.
-If you value you you GPA than do not take this teacher! I read the book, went to every class, went to her office hours, and still had a D. She grades horribly and make no provisions to help students. This is the worst class I have ever taken..EVER!!!
-Fine grades papers not based on merit but on what her personal feelings are of you as a student. Her grading scale is based on starting every student at 0 and going up. That means that the possiblity of getting an A is extremely low. Unless your a woman then apparently she gives you an A.
-Dr. Fine is very ambiguous in what she wants from you in this class. She asks many questions that have multiple answers, but she is looking only for the answer that SHE wants. Tests are not that easy but not too hard – all writing, of course. Don’t take her if you don’t have to. Oh and she is OBSESSED with James Madison.
-pol Psych what a capricious cow! never clear, always bad mouthing other faculty and complaining about editors not publishing her work. You need to avoid her and her classes
-Professor Fine is hands down the worst professor I have ever had. She is not clear in instructions whatsoever and is extremely uncompromising. She is a narrow minded individual and should not be allowed to teach at this or any university for that fact.
-She is the most unfair grader I’ve ever experienced. 60% of the class failed the first test and she has the nerve to go on a rant about how we all were on facebook during class time. She needs to stop teaching if its just one big ego trip for her. I learned more from the book than her feeble minded self righteous dribble.
-Do not take this class/professor unless you want to be continually confused and frustrated. Directions are so unclear and if you email her to clarify, you will still be confused. Plus, she uses her own grading scale that makes no sense and makes it impossible to get an A.The majority of the reviews are right on. DO NOT TAKE HER-YOU WILL REGRET IT!
-Please listen to the people who say this professor is not clear and not very helpful. One should pray to get through her Politics and Religion course with a decent grade.
-Her class seems very straight forward, however her directions are very confusing. You need to be a mind reader to get a good grade on assignments and discussions. Most people are failing this class! It’s not a difficult class. She is a disorganized mess! Choose another professor!
-Have taken a couple online classes with her. She is extremely unclear in communication.

The prof reminds me of one I had in a course entitled “English 340 – Literature of the Commonwealth”. It was all about English writings from former colonies. I should have guessed that the prof would be a man hating, white hating, Western philosophy/worldview hating, conspiracy theorist. Worst grade I ever received in my major.
When she told the class that cannibalism has never actually existed in human history and was just an invented construct by the Imperial Oppressors to delineate “us” the civilized from “them” the savages. I knew what my first “any topic” essay was going to be. After providing copious first person accounts, guess who wasn’t yet at the point of seeing that grades were determined by adherence to the hive mind, not facts and reason.

If any other business in the known universe had employees who were so disconnected from their customer base as American universities, they would (a.) file bankruptcy, or (b.) fire the worthless employees. That neither of these outcomes ever prevail, we may only conclude that their objective – effective education for a fair price – takes a back seat to political indoctrination supported by incompetents who cannot be disciplined or discharged.
Tenure, once a guarantee of an individual’s ability to exercise academic freedom, has become essentially a political appointment, for life, and nothing more.

Back in the 70s I had a professor from Germany.
On the first day of class, he said that he felt females should not be in college and no female in his class would ever receive an A.
I attended class every day and worked hard. I received a B.
A football player showed up on the first day of class and the last day of class. Signed his name on the final exam and turned it in.
He got an A.
Point is, this crap has been going on for years in colleges and won’t change. It’s the nature of the beast.
