  1. Happy Mother’s Day to all!

Funny how animals make better mothers than a helluva lot of humans, ain’t it?
Sorry, don’t mean to be a downer on Mother’s Day … just seems odd …

    Thanks, Claudia!

  2. Happy Mother’s Day to all who qualify.
And especially so to my own mom. She might drive me crazy and be overbearing and rude to me but she’s still taking damn good care of me during my entire tooth abscess escapade (I’m finally getting in to see my dentist early this week).

So thank you, mom. For caring when it does matter and for reminding me of how soft hearted and nice you can be. ♡

  3. HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to all the mothers here at IOTW. Especially to my wife, my daughters and an early Mothers Day by 3 months to my granddaughter.

    Thanks Mom, miss you.

  4. Thank you for the pix and the topic, Claudia. We need the good things in life served up occasionally, and there’s nothing better than a mother, this side of the Lord.

Not gonna comment on politics today, not even on that meat plant one with the stupid, useless “screens” like we have and the feckless UFCW hijacking…no, no, not gonna do it, its time for love and gratitude.

This Mother’s Day is particuarly poignantto me, and for good reason.

Something we learned from a previous Pastor in my Church was wearing a flower for Mother’s Day to honor our mother…with a red one for a living mother, and a white one for a mother who’s gone to be with the Lord.

…and Thursday, we thought we may need to change the color on my wife’s flower.

I came here while waiting in the parking lot at the ER for news (Thanks, Democrats), and asked folks to pray as my mother-in-law’s life was in acute danger. I won’t repeat, but you may see it here. https://iotwreport.com/grandma-killer/

…anyway, prayers were answered, and 2 stents (90% blockage) and 2 days of hell later (for her nurses, after the stents she pinked up right away and started bossing THEM around, they even called my wife at one point so she would talk her mother into taking her medicine!), by the grace of God she was restored to us in much-improved health.

I viewed every upvote as an “amen” to my prayers and thank @Foton and @chuffed-beyond-words especially for helping see to it that our prayers were heard and that we could both continue to wear red flowers this day.

Lots of people joke about mothers-in-laws, but you’d never meet a nicer, sweeter one than mine, and I thank the Lord that he chose to bless us with her for just a little while longer.

Dear Lord, we thank you for all You’ve done for us, all You do for us, and as always we thank You for the gift of Your son, the only hope of Man. But on this special day, we thank You that You blessed us with the first woman in our lives, that You gave us a measure of Your love by pouring it into the persons of our mothers, giving them the grace to deal with us and the strength to put up with us, that MUST come from You because we can be plenty annoying. We ask that You touchevery mother with Your blessings on this day, and let those mothers see a glimpse of the rewards they have surely earned for putting up with Your errrant charges on Your behalf. Grant them continued strength and serenity to see them through to Heaven when they can at last lay down their charges, and grant us the ability to show them in this one day a tiny measure of the love they’ve given us, that they may know that all they do is not in vain. And I ask it all in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

I thank the Lord for his mercy and healing this week, it is not possible to praise Him too much.

May the Lord bless all mothers today, and every day, and shine His love down on them.

    Happy Mother’s Day.

    God Bless,
    SNS

  5. Amen

My father ended up in the ER because of the shutdown. His retirement home had residents quarantine in their apartments. No exercise to walk the hallways. He requires a walker and there was no path in the apartment sufficient to exercise walk. After 3 weeks cooped up, clots formed in his legs and some broke off into his lungs. He had to go to the ER where they put him in the COVID ward. He had to test negative twice before he could go into the hospital clear section. He made it through and will be checking out next week only to go into another14 day COVID quarantine at his retirement facility before getting back with my mother at their apartment. So let this be a lesson for our loved ones in these facilities. Make sure they exercise their legs! Rigorously!

    @Jethro- God Bless!

Moms are THE rock, in most families I would venture to say…the things she taught me, the basics so to say, I am passing on right now to my own little crew, but as a dad now. Odd and amazing that works, isn’t it?

Here is a Mothers Day vid I took last year and posted:

  8. Happy Mother’s Day everyone. Great pictures Claudia! It’s so obvious the love of a mother with her children.

Can’t tell you how I thank God everyday my mom is still with us and bless those souls who have gone to be with the Lord.

    God Bless us all!

  9. What lovely pics to you all!

I was fortunate to have my mom around long enough for her to help with the early rearing of our children, she passed about five years ago, so, my boys are gifted with her memory. She was 94…her mom 99!! (not sure if it’s an Irish thing or not!?)

It’s gonna be a tough day for some…I miss her dearly, but I am blessed because of her (and of course me fodder…long long gone).

Thank you Claudia for making daze like this, mornings like this, special!

  11. …welcome back @Anymouse, missed you here and was hoping you’d turn up after all these posts you’ve had a hand in…

Awful nice yard you’ve got there, guess there’s WORSE places to be quarantined…

Count your blessings, my friend, I think they outweigh your curses!

…and @Ghost, go ahead and message him, you won’t be disappointed. He’s been a blessing to me, though he may argue against it, so I think you’ll be glad too.

Just have a BIG Email box…

    Be blessed, SNS

  12. @Anymouse and @Sns – thanks, :>)

@MissKitty – you are welcome! I had my cry today so I am good to go…I think? She comes to me when I am cleaning the house…she is doing it with me, just the same way she taught me to cook as a younster. She went to work at the AGE OF 55 after raising a very large family, as a 911 operator for the NYPD. I have her ID!!
Worked for ten years getting ready to retire with my dad and then he dies at that time.
