  1. Government at all levels is totally process focused as opposed to being results focused. It’s all about DEI, checking off all of the other boxes like climate neutral and then you run up against money from the community being taken to DC or the State capital, where 30% of it is siphoned off before being awarded back in the form of a competitive grant that will not be chosen unless it includes the flavor of the day, like 12 foot multi use path on both sides of the right of way that few people use or a Goddmn roundabout in a location in which it makes absolutely no sense. Meanwhile the community has real and present transportation infrastructure needs, thet the entire community would benefit from, that go unmet… and if you want to have a proposed project even considered it must primarily serve an underserved population.

That’s how the day to day has worked for decades, now that mindset has been adopted by disaster relief agencies and it is pervasive, if not ubiquitous. On top of that the Goddamn FEMA slobs are only available from 9-5.

I have a friend right dead in the middle of the NC disaster. I finally contacted him after nine days, his generator was about out of fuel and the only help they have received from any government entity is from his local, small town and rural county folks.

It’s a fucking scandal and a disgrace. FWIW, the number of people tripping over each other in the federally funded disaster center seems to be the primary focus keeping well fed.

  2. Why didn’t they send them good old fashioned hand saws and crosscut saws. I swear their theme song has become I’m a lumberjack and I’m OK, they’re more concerned with DEI and queers and tranny freak than they are in helping victims of Hurricane Helene and Milton.

  3. DEI – Don’t Engage Intelligence… idiots

I don’t know – I guess I prefer the smell of exhaust instead of burning plastic. No idea why people like lithium mowers, snowblowers and chainsaws. I can recharge all of my stuff in a few minutes with a can of gas.

It occurs to me that this may be another derivative of Cloward-Piven: Overload the System with too many monkey-wrenches.

  5. Probably got gouged on the price, too. Speaking of which, we haven’t heard much from the Price Hawk lately. I figured she would be all over the rampant corporate greedsters sticking it to the hurricane victims. They’re everywhere, like jackals….right?

I reckon the talk shows are a priority, though. Maybe the next storm. Or next year, when she’s looking for a job.

  6. Those things are made for homeowners to trim small branches from trees. They are not made or designed for logging or felling trees. People bring them to our shop hoping for repair. They have plastic gears and are usually pressed into the motor shaft. As soon as they hit heavy resistance or bind the shaft rounds out the gear and the teeth deform. A sawzall with a pruning blade is a better choice.

  7. GoB – That’s what they call those battery powered inverters you see hawked on the intenet and TV that last maybe an hour or so at 80% load!

A real generator will run on 2 days with about 25gal of Dino fluid!
