  1. Just today I listened to a speech given by Mollie Hemingway at Hillsdale College titled “Political Divide in America” (Oct, 2019).

About 20 minutes into her talk, she stopped to correct the title of it, saying that today we cannot mistake what is happening in this country as a political divide, but actually a cultural divide; one that pits those who reject the facts of our founding, the form of our government and the future of this nation under both — against those who understand the purpose of the Declaration of Independence, the real and intended purpose of the Constitution and who embrace what is characterized as an “experiment” in self-government. It is a speech that is worthy of our time to watch and listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5rmMTS2elE

Hemingway’s assessment of the situation is accurate and alarming. Often when we talk about a culture war, we really don’t grasp its implications. The Left has all but sewn up the mission they set upon about 100 years ago in this country. I don’t look forward to the next 3-5 years, when I suspect this war will no longer be a cold war.
