I’m From the Federal Government and I’m Here to Kill Owls

Despite the last-minute heroics of Senator John Kennedy (R-LA), the Senate voted yesterday to continue a Biden Era program that would kill barred owls in order to save endangered spotted owls. Here

Besides the cost of the project ($1.35 billion), DOGE claims the effort targets the wrong source for the spotted owl’s decline. Though both environmentalist and loggers are in favor of killing barred owls, others believe federal money would be put to better use on protecting habitat. Here

  1. So Survival of the fittest, UNLESS we don’t like who the fittest is.

BARRED & SPOTTED owls have been documented to interbreed.
    They are called SPARRED Owls.
    Look it up.

In 50,000 years they will have become something else, UNLESS they taste good with 11 herbs & spices.

  2. Declare the spotted owl to be a delicacy suitable to be prepared and enjoyed only at the finest and most expensive restaurants. This will create a market and savvy entrepreneurs will build suitable infrastructure for breeding the birds and supplying places such as the French Laundry.

Problem solved. Unless the barred owls are also a problem. Hey, those barred guys taste pretty good, too!

  3. Spotted Owl Escoffier is on the menu in New Orleans’ finest restaurants.

Thanks to Auguste Escoffier and his wife, Avril Escoffier, along with their daughters May and June. Together, they created some timeless dishes.

But according to tradition, Spotted Owl Escoffier is served only during the warmer months in New Orleans.

  4. as a gumt marine biologist, I’m not allowed to say anything.
But I did grow up on a timber economy. I also had a spotted owl take a mouse out of my hand one time back in the day.
Barred owls never used to be here. But they are all over here now. They even call in broad daylight. There’s a lot of problems But killing Barred owls is too far fetched.

    I’m with you on that.

I remember some old bag telling me that she wished all of the animals had guns too.
Yea, me too. I guess that’s one thing we agree on.
If they had guns they would be able to shoot back.
    Probably so.
    You are fine with that?
Sure, I’m also a damn good shot and since I got off the first shot that means I also get a free gun every time I kill one of ‘em.

  6. Nest predators decimated turkey populations for many years and the gov’t solution was to cancel turkey season. I’ll never give another dollar to the state for the privilege of hunting game animals that belong to the public

  7. Of all the issues before the America First agenda I had not seen killing barred owls being an issue that would help Americans by relieving the cost of fuel, food, transportation needs, fraud and waste in Government.

  8. The Earth has been taking care of itself for billions of years.
Why (on Earth) does anyone think we can improve on that??

Ans: So they can get paid for bamboozling people into paying them for it!
