My brother-in-law who once worked as a 911 operator once got a call from a patient at Eastern State Hospital in Medical Lake, Wash, a state mental institution. The first question that he asked the caller was, “Are you a regular nut or a chocolate nut.” Fortunately they didn’t fire him, but they did find it funny.

I had big “R” Respect for my 911 dispatchers back in the day. There weren’t very many of them, the ’80s computers weren’t great, there was no computer aided dispatch so they had to talk to callers AND us, sometimes one in each ear. I had them get snippy sometimes but no one ever lost it, even in tornadoes, and they always got us to patients even if they had to listen to the person’s phone for our siren (no cells then), and always got us what we needed. They also had to be aware that anyone with a scanner could hear them talking to us, so they sometimes had to use alternate strategies and codes in situations like this so WE could know what’s going on, but a possible party-line perp could not.
I could count on them then.
Sadly, while THIS was a GREAT example of how you do it, this is Current Year with millennials and DEI and all that, so…
…so God bless this dispatcher and the responding officer for getting it done as it should be, but everyone needs to understand this isn’t necessarily what you’ll get in a similar situation in The World We Live In Today.
Be sure to thank a Democrat or a RINO for that whenever and however you can.
They’ve made everyone, responder and citizen alike, MUCH less safe for no reason other than to advance Communism.
Don’t count on them being there for YOU, and plan accordingly.
Things only get worse as the election gets closer.
THAT you can depend on…

A friend had a hip replaced at a Portland hospital. The anesthesia wore off and the staff would not give him any follow-on pain meds without the surgeon’s signature. Back in the OR doing another hip replacement, the surgeon was unavailable. The staff didn’t give a shit. So he called 911, asked for an ambulance to take him to another hospital. 911 called the hospital, who all of a sudden figured out a way to get around the rules.

My grandmother had hip surgery at 99 yrs old.
The meds made her paranoid.
She tried to get me to help her escape because “they were going to blow the place up”
DEI will be the end of qualified 911 operators.
