In a Younger Man’s Clothes

Billy Joel’s YouTube Channel posted the original music video for “Piano Man” a few months back. It’s as sad and sweet as it ever was fifty years later. Watch

  1. One of the best times I had was way back in the 80’s. My sister and I took off to Boston for a weekend and we ended up in this Irish bar and this song played and the entire bar sang it.
Smoking and drinking….we were much better off and we didn’t even know it.

  2. I know there are some Billy Joel haters here but I’ve liked a lot of his music and I’ve been to a couple of his concerts that were really good. It seems these old timers still attract plenty of good musicians to play alongside them. However, when he pointed out his good friends Bill and Hilary Clinton a few years ago at one of his concerts I knew he’s not getting another nickel from me.

  3. I think it’s more than fair to say success ruined Billy Joel. And his butt buddy Garth Brooks. I consider Piano Man one of the best songs ever written. And it was all down hill from there. Both those artist are truly Shameless.

  4. “They come over… and they sit with us… and they drink with us… and they talk to us. They tell about the big terrible things they’ve done and the big wonderful things they’ll do. Their hopes, and their regrets, and their loves, and their hates. All very large, because nobody ever brings anything small into a bar.”

  5. Just today I found Little Feat, waiting For Columbus, the double LP.

    It’s great.

Outside of Cream, Bind Faith, Beethoven, Vaughan Williams, Dave Brubeck, Dave Mason, Ten Years After, Nick Gravenites, Mike Bloomfield, and Traffic, Little Feat is my favorite band 🙂

I also like some Paul Simon, and CSNY, and even some of that communist James Taylor shit.

  6. Brought it all back for me; especially since I was serving in the Navy and this was almost our unofficial ship’s song at the time (USS New DD-818) Was I ever that young?

    Thanks for the memories!
