Inquire This, BBC – IOTW Report

Inquire This, BBC

BBC World Service produces a magazine format program, The Inquiry that is suppose to go in depth on a single topic. Last night’s episode was titled “What’s Killing Black Babies?” I know, I know, loaded question, but let’s go over their program with them anyway.

The show is broken in to 4 segments. The first block laid the basis for their investigation, black women in the United States tend to have pre-mature births and a higher infant mortality rate. Awful. What’s causing it BBC? The next segment talks of studies done in the 1970’s and 1980’s on economic and education differences. Nope, that’s not it. Well maybe it’s genetic? In the 3rd segment they look at studies of recent immigrants from Africa and find the first generation are having normal births, their daughters aren’t. So something about growing up in America is affecting black women.

What do you think it is ,BBC? Well this is the Untied States after all and all the world knows what a horribly racist place it is here. Sure enough, in the last block, they’re in San Francisco and discover expectant black mothers report experiencing a less accommodating medical community. Hospitals and care givers provide them a lower quality of care to save on cost. This puts additional stress on moms who have already aged seven years faster than their white counterparts who don’t grow up and live in such uncertain circumstances. Stressed expected moms have more health issues and troubled pregnancies. Their conclusion, medical professionals in this country need to address their “innate racism” in order to do better by these expectant black mothers.

Well, the show’s called “The Inquiry” after all, so I thought I’d do some of my own. What else distinguishes black mothers in this country? How about out of wed lock births? If stress on the mother causes low birth weights and higher infant mortality, it would seem to me meager resources and no husband to share the burden would be pretty stressful.

And it is, for blacks as well as whites- Here

  1. Hmmm…based on the BBC report, my conclusion would be “get the hell out of San Francisco – they’re killing your infant children.” An alternate conclusion would be San Francisco citizens are liberal, so liberals need to be cured of their innate racism. Either one is probably closer to the truth than the BBC would like to admit.

  2. Interesting. How many of those Black mothers had access to a OBGyn clinic during their term, did any of them use illegal drugs or alcohol, lots of questions.
The sad truth is that childbirth is still a dangerous thing for women even today, some die during and after childbirth. Children are still born, children die in the womb and modern medicine doesn’t have any answers or preventive measures.

  3. Also, don’t black women in the US tend to get pregnant at a much earlier age than other ethnic groups? I’m talking 12 and 13 years of age? That’s a risk factor, no?. Also, smoking crack or meth while pregnant might tend to produce less healthy chillins.

  4. Please note the original CDC study I linked states that out of wedlock births are actually WORSE on whites than blacks, i.e. it’s not racism that affecting pre-mature births and higher mortality rates among blacks. It’s rampant out of wed lock pregnancies and it’s bad for every expectant mother.

  5. My main mentor, a practicing Psychiatrist, while I was studying post abortion healing did an indepth study on premature births and miscarriages. Data was taken from a country that had legalized abortion and socialized (gov paid healthcare) that kept reproductive stats.

Statistically significant results showed that those who who aborted a child, had higher incidence of miscarriages, lowered birth weight rates, and infertility.

The Black community is now experiencing the rotten fruits of abortion on demand.

Somewhere in my files lives the summary of her study.

Previous generations of Blacks did not abort more than the general population.

  6. Oh the stories…

While my daughter was doing her clinicals she had one patient that she got really pissed at. The girl wouldn’t take care of her baby because she was too involved watching children’s programming on PBS. But then in her defense I believe she was eleven years old OR LESS. Could have been younger as I don’t recall the exact age and yes I believe the father was the was also her father…

    Real Ozzie & Harriet lifestyle.

  7. Margaret Sanger. A so-called doctor. Probably even took the Hippocratic Oath. Perfect oath for a hypocrite. Racist and hater of less than perfect children (mentally or physically challenged children) she did more to further the murder of innocents than anyone until her time. Now it’s anybody’s guess who is in the lead.
