Daily Wire: One of the seven small federal agencies that President Donald Trump ordered downsized or eliminated on Friday was rife with corruption, with its employees hiring friends and relatives, commissioning paintings of themselves, and using government credit cards to indulge in constant luxuries.
The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) occupied a nine-story office tower on D.C.’s K Street for only 60 employees, many of whom actually worked from home, prior to the pandemic. Its managers had luxury suites with full bathrooms; one manager would often be “in the shower” when she was needed, while another used her bathroom as a cigarette lounge. FMCS recorded its director as being on a years-long business trip to D.C. so he could have all of his meals and living expenses covered by taxpayers, simply for showing up to the office.
FMCS is a 230-employee agency that exists to serve as a voluntary mediator between unions and businesses. As an “independent agency,” its director nominally reports to the president, but the agency is so small that in effect, there is no oversight at all — and it showed, becoming a real-life caricature of all the excesses that the Department of Government Efficiency has alleged take place in government.
This reporter spent a year investigating the agency a decade ago, and I found egregious and self-serving violations of hiring, pay, contracting, and purchase card rules. One thing I could not discover is why the agency actually existed, other than to provide luxurious lifestyles for its employees. Endless junkets to resort destinations, which employees openly used to facilitate personal vacations, were justified as building awareness of the agency in the hopes that someone would actually want to use its voluntary services. more here
I’ll bet this isn’t the only one.
Office of Waste Fraud and Abuse is closer to this entity’s activities.
Why
Aren’t
These
People
In
Jail?
I don’t so much want them in jail as having their heads on pikes along the approach roads to Washington Den of Theives.
Kinda like the way ex-pols are rotated though Fannie Mae. ‘Serve’ there for a year and ‘earn’ a huge lifetime pension and benefits.
Strongly resisting the urge to vomit. This is grand larceny on a grand scale. I worked at a state agency that fired a long-term loyal employee for “stealing” a 2×4 out of a dumpster. Where to are the auditors!? Where is the congressional oversight!?
Shut it the eff down!!!
If there were ever a justification for doxxing, this is it. A full list of employees, their ‘job’ descriptions and expense account purchases, and their home addresses should be published. For informational purposes only, of course. And for proper shunning by their neighbors. And for cross-referencing with forthcoming resumes as these freeloaders hit the job market.
There is a list of every employee that worked for this agency. Every last one of them need to be arrested, all their assets seized including foreign bank accounts which will be used to pay down the National Debt. They all need to be tried on multiple charges, tried, and convicted. They then all need to be sentenced to 39/11/29 at GITMO and not some Country Club Prison. Almost all of them will not live long enough to be released back into General Public. There also needs to be paperwork that denies any of them any chance of Parole, Pardon, or Commutation Of Sentence in case some Leftist or RINO should happen to become President.
Yeah, we need an agency — made up of patriots — whose only job is to receive criminal referrals of federal employees, contractors, etc, who have committed fraud. They do their investigation/due diligence, try the fraudster (no plea deals), find guilt/innocence, and jail. This would be too big a work load for the FBI, and no one should trust local law enforcement/DAs/courts to apply equal justice.
I’d wager there are dozens of pocket agencies like this, created to give no show payoff jobs to political operators.
Even the goddam Federal Judges ain’t touching this one. At least I’m pretty sure they won’t.
You know, I’m not really sure anymore at all.
I have a republican congressman. I need to call his office to see what he has to say of all the corruption. As a retired Marine Corp general and 8 years in congress I wonder how all this passed by him without anyone in D.C. knowing anything about this gangster operation.
Unless of course they were part of it.
Yes a lot of corruption there and people do need to get jail time. Supervisor and those with oversight to start with. And a lot of congressmen should be sweating and looking over their shoulder now.
Thank you President Trump and Elon. We the people are with you.
DOGE has uncovered a lot of waste and corruption in a short period of time, it’s like a lot of these govt leeches didn’t even bother trying to cover their tracks. They must have thought no one would even come looking.
I wonder what sort of retirement benefits they “earned” as dedicated public servants.
Democrats hardest hit.
