Is Dan Crenshaw Being Unfairly Thrown Under the Bus?

Saw this post today-

PHOTO EVIDENCE: Dan Crenshaw Pushed Red Flags After Meeting With Bloomberg Gun Control Activists

ninetymilesfromtyranny-

Crenshaw’s recent flirtation with red flag gun confiscation laws might not be so coincidental after all.

BLP reported on Crenshaw’s advocacy for pre-crime legislation such red flag laws and The Threat Assessment, Prevention, and Safety (TAPS) Act following the El Paso and Dayton shootings.

Now photo evidence has emerged of Crenshaw previously meeting with the staunchly anti-gun organization Moms Demand Action to discuss red flag laws and universal background checks legislation back in February.

Crenshaw’s meeting with a known enemy of gun rights suggests that he had plans of introducing some variant of gun control legislation…

Really? Is that what the photo means?

Here’s Crenshaw rebutting the charge-

What to believe? I don’t know yet.

What I do know is this. If you’re so goddamn crazy that everyone is afraid of you having access to a gun, maybe it’s time that person not have access to society.

We don’t need to take guns away from them, they need to be taken away from the guns, and the knives, and the cars, and the explosives, and the baseball bats, the acid, the park, the mall, the movie theater, the children, and have a nice long stay at what we used to call the mental hospital.

I’m supposed to sleep tight at night because some maniac next door has had a very specific weapon taken away from him, but can still burn down my house?

How is taking away his gun going to keep him from being a danger?

Answer- it’s not.

  1. THIS >>> “If you’re so goddamn crazy that everyone is afraid of you having access to a gun, maybe it’s time that person not have access to society.”

There’s nothing wrong with Crenshaw discussing anything and listening to others’ points of view. He’s also not a lawyer or a long-time politician. Give him some time to learn. Instead of screeching at him, those who know better need to give him the arguments contra. He needs to be aware that we effectively already have these laws for people who need to be Baker-Acted (danger to themselves or others) as well as domestic violence injunctions.

Discussing and listening are ways to feel out where others are coming from, investigate, appear reasonable, convince others of another point of view where that’s possible (sometimes), and as Crenshaw said, take control of the conversation. We already have the lefties shutting down opposing points of view. We don’t need to do that.

  2. In my community there was a reputable family that had a teenage son with psychological problems. One day he got a kitchen knife and was chasing after his family members with it. They shut themselves in a bedroom and called the cops. The mom pleaded with them to not shoot her son when they arrived. But the kid came charging out of the house waving the knife as he ran at them. The cops shot and killed him. It can be pretty clear when someone is mentally unstable and potentially dangerous. Love isn’t always therapeutic enough to control an unstable person. The potential for violent aggression today is being openly displayed by Antifa members which is what these activists and Crenshaw should be criticizing about to the media that interview them. Especially Crenshaw.

  3. Suppose they do come up with a semi coherent solution to keep guns away from the insane out there. The republicans won’t be in control forever and once the left has access to warping the intent of the law they’ll have a field day. Don’t give an inch! It’s a basic constitutional right and something you don’t have the authority to do anyway.

  4. All “red flag” laws are slippery slopes. Even with the so-called safe guards of evidence given by someone with standing. All those scientists pushing the climate change hoax have standing and were still able to be bought. The suggestion that only police could recommend confiscation is even worse. Our retiring Police Chief is a member of numerous anti gun groups and he would love that police be given power like this.
We have literally hundreds and hundreds of gun laws in this country. None of them has managed to stop criminals.
And of course the responses to his first video were emotional. Every American should be emotional when politicians are even talking about chipping away at our God given, Constitutionally protected rights.

  5. What janitor said is exactly the process I went through, recently, before coming to the understanding that current laws are more than sufficient and ‘Red Flag’ laws would only lead to abuse. But it is a process of thinking through, listening to arguments for and against. Until he puts legislation forward that proves me wrong I still have faith that Crenshaw will come to the same conclusion.

  6. The psychiatry profession is one of the most political professions there are.

They already think that anyone who voted for trump is crazy and that trump should get the 25th amendment treatment.

giving red flag laws to these commiefags to use against us is treason.

  7. Although he does have good intentions and makes sense, but once you have that law on the books and then the commie bitches….I mean democRATS get back in power they can morph it into what ever fits their agenda!

And the fear of that would probably prevent veterans suffering from PTSD from seeking treatment.
