Mom always knew where to find me on Saturday mornings. Glued to the floor in front of the television. Always let me enjoy until regular programming came on then it was chore time.
10
I miss those Saturdays. Sitting about five feet away from the tv, bowl of cereal on the floor and not a care in the world.
25
Does anyone have the attention span anymore to watch Saturday morning cartoons?
Pretty amazing to think children would sit through school all week then be willing to sit down in front of the TV to watch cartoons for hours on Saturdays.
13
Now that brought back sweet memories. I laughed at the skittle pool commercial with Maxwell Smart. They don’t even make great commercials like that anymore.
11
Skittle Pool.
Just gave one of those still with the box to my neices this past Christmas.
Found it at a garage sale.
They had no idea who the guy on the box (Don Adams) was.
8
At least Bugs Bunny wasn’t in drag back in the day 😉
Saw a story yesterday that Looney Tunes is going woke putting the Bug’s in drag 😩
9
I think the writers and producers were smoking a lot of pot back then.
7
Warner Bros cartoons were the best… and still are!
“Diaper Man” Who knew Jackass Joe made his debut back then!
12
Fun times, but eventually decided doing morning chores and heading out of the house was the better plan.
Always found H. R. Puf’ and the Banana Splits rather creepy.
14
H R Puffenstuff and the Banana Splits sucked. Gimme any old Looney Tunes cartoon or Rocky and Bullwinkle and I’ll be in my 2nd childhood for an old guy heaven. I have most of the Looney Tunes cartoons and all the episodes of Rocky and Bullwinkle on DVD’s. And they still make me laugh all these years later.
14
Scooby Doo also sucked big time, it was and still is a moron show.
9
Better not get in front of the TV or talk when Dad was watching.Rockie & Bullwinkle with Mr.Peabody and fractured fairy tales.Road runner also. Dad was a nuclear rocket engineer with a 143 IQ.
20
agree, scooby-doo was/is brainless bullshit
4
Rocky and Bullwinkle wasn’t really a kids cartoon; it was really adult humor disguised for kids. It was sure genius.
17
My oldest daughter still remembers the Fisherman and his wife from Fractured Fairy Tales which was also in Bill Bennet’s Book of Virtues. The poor fisherman just couldn’t get his wife to quit griping about everything after being given many wishes by a magic fish. “Oh, Alice my wife, the plague of my life.”… She thought it was hilarious.
4
Dudley Doo Right and Snidely Whiplash were also hilarious as well as Cloyd and Gidney the 2 goofy Moon men. And then there was Boris Badenov and Natasha and Fearless Leader from the thinly veiled parody dictatorship of Pottsylvania. Boris couldn’t kill Moose and Squirrel any more than Wile E Coyote could catch the Roadrunner.

Davey and Goliath was by the Lutherans? I thought is was by the Mormons. I once met the guy who did Davey’s voice. Really nice guy. He also did Speedy Alka Seltzer.
A friend of mine and I used to sing the Bugs Bunny theme driving to junior college. I liked Warners cartoons from the ‘30’s and especially the ‘40’s. In the ‘50’s they got stylized. How do you spell “stylized?” C-h-e-a-p.
Rat fink had a Chinese sidekick that would say things like
“May a thousand elephants kick sand in your spinach!”

Wow. Some of those really sucked! Especially those by Sid and Marty- Yikes.
Kukla Fran and Ollie was pretty sketchy too.
Rocky & Bullwinkle, Fractured Fairy Tales, Peabody’s Improbable History etc were great, with excellent voice-overs by Edward Everett Horton and Hans Conreid.

On a related but more serious note, some flashbacks are available at this YT channel: https://youtu.be/PvdlJpTs2MA
Worth a look IMO.
HR PuffinStuff NOT cartoon.
That was the last time television had any value.
