Donald Trump has taken another step towards the nomination.
It’s not secured by any means, but the “eventually death” of Donald Trump’s campaign will continue to be the prognostication by incredulous conservatives, right up until the day Trump is the nominee.
That leads us to the talk.
There are conservative sites, bloggers, talking heads and analysts out there that are so anti-Trump, their rhetoric so acidic, I fear they will be working for the other side, either pro-actively or by default, during the general election.
I challenge these people to name one thing they fear Trump doing that rises to the level of what we already know Hillary has done.
The reality of Benghazi is suddenly rendered meaningless compared to what their fevered dreams “imagine” Donald Trump doing?
Hillary compromising national security and belligerently setting up her own private server away from the “prying eyes” of the American public is suddenly meaningless compared to what the fevered dreams “imagine” Trump doing?
Maybe, as a conservative, I should be taking a second look at Hillary. She’s probably not all that bad, right? Not as bad as Trump, with his promised wall, his promised crackdown on illegal immigration, his repeal of Obamacare, his fair-trade agreements, his lower taxes, his robust military, his overhaul of the VA, his healthy suspicion of Muslim refugees, and that ridiculous number one goal of making America Great Again, right?
If Sanders should be the nominee, I challenge these vitriolic conservatives to name one thing Trump is “probably” going to do that is worse than what we know Bernie Sanders will do.
Oh, I know, Trump’s SCOTUS picks will definitely be worse than Sanders’. Right?
I realize that Trump’s picks would not be as good as Cruz’s, but this post is about the reality of a Trump nomination.
If you sit on your hands and do nothing to help Trump win the presidency, well…
I’m not even going to say what I want to say. I’ll give everyone enough time and space to come to their senses on their own if Trump wins this.
You have some seriously fucked up scripts running on this page.
Check your advertisers.
‘Locks up all browsers.
I didn’t want you to think I’m not responding to your advice. I’ve immediately contacted the advertisers and asked them to run diagnostics on their ads to check out the scripts. I thank you for the input and I’ll keep you updated on their response. -bfh) ((For the record, there is another site that shares our same ad server and I’ve had to kill pages over there. I’ve only had to do it here twice. But, I think there is a problem.))
I don’t need to come to my senses. I have the sense to know that someone whose policy positions change with the wind, whom Democrat party spokesmen see as “malleable”, is not to be trusted.
I will not be responsible for anything that happens if Trump gets elected because I will not vote for Trump; small comfort, I know, since there won’t be any escaping the consequences, but at least I won’t be culpable.
Go ahead; burn it down. Just don’t expect me to help you.
I kinda want you to say what you want though.
Real talk.
Otherwise, Jeb’s announcement was pretty cringe worthy. I was waiting on the “please clap”
Doug Ross, we’re talking about you. And I could easily name another 20 that truly have gone full boom/magnum.
I’ve said all along I’d vote for Cruz but only if Levin hangs himself. No just kidding but I would vote Cruz if Trump lost to him.
Rubio? Man, that’d be 100x worse then the Romney Shit Sammich
Can’t say you’re crazy. I see way too much of what you speak to not agree that there is some truth in your assumption. I pray you and I are wrong.
For the fourth time…
Trump’s value, even if he loses to Bernie Sanders will to have outed all of the useless posers and phonies that were supposedly on the right.
I don’t even just mean Fox news, but even people that I once respected, and some I never respected (like AoSHQ), are so far off the reservation that they are either bought, or terminally stupid.
Screw ’em!
Ben is right. Voters are suffering from the Stockholm Syndrome.
Now that !Yeb is out, I can safely say that I can vote for the Republican nominee with a clean conscience. I had truly feared that the choice would be Bush vs. Clinton, and I think it was in this very forum that I said, “Shoot me NOW!” if that contest were to happen.
Good luck to both Donald and Ted. May the best mensch win.
“Trump’s value, even if he loses to Bernie Sanders will to have outed all of the useless posers and phonies that were supposedly on the right.”
And at that point, knowing it will no longer make the slightest difference anymore. Obama was the lid of the coffin slamming tight. Either Clinton or Sanders will be the nails all around. There will be no coming back from either of those. They’ll see to that.
For my money, Cruz is the only trustworthy shot to get the lid back off, even a little. if only until the next leftist is put into office. But to this very second I still have no reason to trust Trump, just like I was never given a sound reason to trust Romney’s late conversion to conservatism.
For all his flaws, Cruz seems the most likely to actually believe what he says he believes.
well we already know what we have with the current Democrat and what that parties candidates will do to us if elected! We also know what some of the GOPe candidates will do to us if elected! No different than the Democrats. That leaves only Trump and Cruz?????
Somebody better talk to Stooper Mex because the Fing idiot has no idea how pissed off and frustrated the silent majority, that creates shit, is. I’m talking about the disappearing Blue Collar folks that make a living with there hands. Fuck it. We are done.
President Trump
You have two horses in a race that you bet your entire country on. Your enemies also have two horses in this race.
If you had one bullet you could use against any horse in the race, which one do you shoot?
If one horse is looking like it can’t win, you can still bet on the other one. If you shoot the other one, you won’t have anything left to bet on — and the communist horse wins.
Either one of these guys could save you from having to leave your grandchildren in a communist country. Please be ready to switch your bet if necessary. And don’t shoot one of our only two horses. Please.
If Heidi Cruz’s tight association with Goldman Sachs and the North American Union doesn’t scare the Hell out of you, you’re just not paying attention.
Mr. Hat I have been dismayed by the sharp divide between all of the camps. At some point all will have to come together to stop the madness that is the left or this country as it was formed will no longer exist. I will help elect the last man standing any way I can.
Anyone who sits out in November I will consider a part of the enemy camp. Our way of life and the future of our children should not be played with because of a quest for political purity.
Very good points on your post. Roll on Trump.
Amen. Well said. Even the hapless jeb would’ve been a tremendous improvement over the alternative.
Geoff C. and I had a really good conversation today with a Rubio supporter. The young man we talked with is someone we know in the State party, someone we have had good conversations with in the past. No drama, no “lively” discussion, just a nice sharing of information and questions back and forth. I think the internet and its blogs are a wonderful thing, but when it comes to elections it sucks. People say all kinds of things that they wouldn’t dare to say to someone’s face. And some — I’m embarrassed to say even myself — have written things we wouldn’t want our children or spouses to read.
So many times I’ve tried to meet comments here and occasionally at other sites with information and what I think are sound arguments but am met with odd insults. Recently the only thing one commenter could say in response was that I write comments that are the equivalent of “War and Peace.” (They know who they are).
I love the Unruly Refugee’s comment about the horses.
Anonymous was me — AA
My battle cry is neither “Go Trump” or “Go Cruz” or “Go Rubio.”
It’s “No Hillary.” It’s “No Bernie.”
If Trump is the hammer to beat back Hillary or Bernie, I am going to swing it as hard as I can.
I would hope all conservatives would feel that way.
I cannot fathom a scenario where a conservative would think they were doing a service to our country by going full apathy, or in some cases, going full derangement and actively campaigning against Trump (if he wins the general) because they are so knee deep in their derangement they can’t find the humbleness to possibly turn back.
I’m not liking what Im seeing out there.
And to be fair, there are sites out there that are the flip side of this coin. I would hope their slobbering devotion to Trump will not keep them from campaigning hard for Cruz or Rubio in the general.
Jeezus people.
Are you aware of what is on the other side waiting for us in the general??
Get your minds right.
WPDavidd,
You didn’t rise to the challenge of my post.
Name what you fear Trump will do that is worse than what we know Hillary has done, and what Sanders wants to do.
Until you do, I don’t really think your comments have any weightiness.
It’s just hollow fiddle fuckery.
oh boy!presdent hillary, thanks alot trumpsters!NO way he will win election, nobody with a brain will vote for republicrat trump,i know i won’t.
Anyone who believes ANY of these candidates will make ANY difference at ALL , is mentally challenged. Reagan and Goldwater wouldn’t be able to get anything done with this gutless, Republican held Congress.
Traitor,
your comment makes absolutely no sense.
“If Heidi Cruz’s tight association with Goldman Sachs and the North American Union doesn’t scare the Hell out of you, you’re just not paying attention.”
SAID NOBODY EVER!!!
Really? Fucking really? I call bullshit!
NOBODY is worried about that red herring.
ALL THE CRAP going on and you write this tripe?
Goldman Sachs is used against Cruz with Trump and Clinton in the race?
Infuckingcrudablefuckingunbelieveable!
Go ahead and blast him because he’s not black while you are at it.
I think I just vomited from the foul stench of bullshit.
Surely you can find a better attack against Cruz.
Stupid ignorant shit like this just burns me up!
Geez!
Fur you sure have a lot of people here that don’t get it, they will be the doom of all of us.
As things get more intense, the idiot reveal themselves. Fanatical closed minded Cruz supporters are a problem. I don’t get it. I’m voting for our last guy standing. After Super Tuesday we need to start coming together against a common enemy.
Yep, closed minded, unlike Trumpsters that can change their mind and principles on a daily fucking basis.
Give me a break.
You know I am right about that, you simply won’t admit it.
Closed minded = Libspeak
Well done Brad
If you choose to not support the Rep. nominee, if you choose to stay home, then you are responsible for the last seven years of divisive hell the progs have rained on this country. The next term of progs will be hell squared..
Hell, I’d have voted for Jeb if he’d won…but it will still be the same tired old bullshit. “I know I promised to repeal Obamacare, but think of the children….”.
I could NOT have said that BETTER myself. Kudos.
my vote will be against the dem nominee.
strength in numbers!
gladiator quote
3 primaries in and we are supposed to get behind Trump and shutup?
Again we are 3 primaries in
We conservatives have.serious issues with Trump.
-“I like the Obama care mandate”
-“We will cover everyone”
-All his past support of liberals
-Saying Hillary was an amazing and one of the best sec of states
-past support of gun control
-past support of abortion
-all of these things play into our concerns of who he would select for SCOTUS
With that said I will vote for the Rep nominee no matter who.
Loco, I’m not speaken fluent Takillya tonight. But I’ve said from day one, I’ll vote for our last guy standing. Where’s my double speak? I prefer Trump because I work for a living. And Cruz is a lying sack of shit that envokes Gods name for his own personal use. Fucking preacher boy drives me to the edge. Having said that, if he’s the last guy, I will vote for him and go home and cry like a little girl. So what’s the deal? I keep hearing Cruz fanatics say they won’t vote for anybody but the second coming. Why are we the ones labeled closed minded?
All the vitriole of the Trumpsters (they are a rabid an intolerant bunch) and all the vitriole about Rubio’s treachery and all the vitriole about Cruz’s this-that-the other notwithstanding, no one candidate will in any way or in any measure reverse the Leviathan that is DC. The *only* hope we have is an Article V convention of states. Electing and effective President is good, but only on the scale of Good-Better-Best. Best is the reign in Leviathan, and the only hope of that is Article V.
Article V is not a Contitutional Convention. It is a mechanism for,the Stares to bypass congress to propose amendments, live term limits for Congress, SCOTUS; balanced budget, destruction of the Administrative State. No single President can do any of this.
Trump/Cruz/Rubio for Prez, but Article V to save the Republic.
I don’t sit out election days even if it’s just local issues and voting in new 3 stooges, also known a, township trustees.
In 1972 I desperately wanted to vote in the Presidential election and was too young. McGovern was a kook. I volunteered at the county Republican headquarters because at least I could contribute something.
The day I turned 18 I went to register in Pitt County, NC and was told I couldn’t because i was a college student and not a resident. I tried registering in Cumberland County where I lived before college and was refused because I lived in Pitt County. Back to Pitt County I went and when they asked my occupation, as they did at the time to weed out college students, I told them I had no employer and was homemaker. They didn’t question that answer.
Voting is my right as a citizen and my responsibility as a citizen. I don’t abdicate that for anyone or anything.
I will vote for every ‘R’ running and at that point I won’t care if it’s Mr. Potato Head, Grumpy Cat or an axe murderer. I will not participate in giving what’s left of the country away to the other party.
Brad, I get that you want to win, bottom line.
I do too.
However, this is the primary season and these fuckers need to be vetted.
They all have disappointed me.
What amazes me is the Rose-Colored Trump glasses.
Where can I get a pair?
All I want is a little honesty, not simply partisanship.
When someone mentions Cruz’s wife that is simply bullshit.
Same thing with the ‘lies’ canard.
Dirty politics and it has many on this site lapping it up like liberal clapping seals.
A Trump presidency will be entertaining at least.
You could substitute the name “Cruz” for “Trump” and your piece here would be just as valid. Personally, I’m not “all in” for Cruz but I don’t fully trust Trump to do what he says he will. That said though, either of these candidates will be far better than anything the dems offer. I hope that supporters of either candidate will stop the character assassinations on both these men and support the primary winner in the general.
BFH
It sounds like you are in the camp that believes the Democrats won’t do what they did before and bring in a dark horse after our candidate is all but decided?
After all it worked last time, and a rat always goes back to the place it found food.
We would have beaten Hilldog, we couldn’t beat the first negro president.
by the time my primary election rolls around the primary will already, probably, be decided….my opinion matters little
that being said ….it’s Trump vs. the RNC
At Sylvia.
The CFR and North American Union crap was brought up in his Senate run by his opponents henchmen. Some believe it was the product of John Birch Society.
Her contribution to the CFR report was actually to say that the private sector and not the govt should be the ones aquiring the goals of the group in the study.
Look up the.facts instead of believing a short blurb unsubstantiated without facts.
Many good people.are.in.CFR that are very pro US and conservative. See the likes of John Bolton. These people offer opposing views and I believe Heidi Cruz is one of those people.
Goldman Sachs? So a private wealth manager for families and individuals means she’s corrupt and bought? That’s pathetic.
What amazes me is the Rose-Colored Trump glasses.
Where can I get a pair?
Contrary to popular belief, I’m not the smartest guy in the world (don’t tell my wife). Like everyone here my reactions are based off my lifes experiences. I’ve been to the top, and back to the bottom. My experiences tell me there’s only one guy that can right the course. That’s Mr. Nationalist Donald J. Tell me why I’m wrong. Bankruptcies, 1989 quotes are not allowed. Please try and stick to facts.
I am not saying you are wrong Brad.
It’s just that Trump has too many red flags to list.
He gets a pass while others are blasted for the smallest thing.
I assume it is that the electorate is totally pissed off and wants to burn it down.
I agree, I want it burned down too.
If Trump can pull it off and turn the ship around, more power to him.
The great thing about Trump is that the PC bullshit bounces off of him like he is Teflon Superman.
The PC shit has destroyed many a good man.
TRUMP IS GOING TO WAX HILLARY’S LUMPY, HAIRY ASS!!!!
EL TRUMPO!!!!!
Brokered convention.
3 primaries in and we are supposed to get behind Trump and shutup?

Do people read the entire post before commenting??
—Donald Trump has taken another step towards the nomination.

this post is about the reality of a Trump nomination. >>>
I’ll give everyone enough time and space to come to their senses on their own if Trump wins this.
>>>
Who is telling anyone to shut up?
The post is about IF Trump wins.
You are free to say whatever you want about all of the candidates.
Hell, you are free to say and do what you want about a Trump nominee for the presidency.
But, in my opinion you’re nothing but a f**ktard a$$hole if you help Hillary or Bernie win over Trump in the general– unless you can tell me what Trump will do that is worse than Hillary or Sanders.
Loco, you are derailing the post into something it is not.
This post is about IF Trump wins.
It’s not about the current battle.
It’s about what you’re going to do IF Trump is the nominee.
Care to offer your Trump versus Hillary or Sanders analysis, not the Trump versus Cruz or Rubio analysis?
How do you arrive at not supporting Trump over Hillary or Sanders?
BFH, I want to congratulate you. You’ve played it down the middle all along. If one is an IOTW regular, they’re a certain kind of Republican. Put it this way, we aren’t going to HotAir for their biting criticism of establishment tools. There were only a few other go to sites that were in the same category. What I’ve seen going on on a couple of them I never would have predicted. The anti-Trump hysteria is out-of-control. Come on, Moonbattery, what the hell?!
We’re not insane because we want to see a sledgehammer taken to the cesspool known as Washington. I thought all real conservatives/libertarians wanted that. What, it was cool to talk about it but now that we might have someone who will actually do it its a little too extreme?
I don’t know for sure what Tump will do if he gets in but that goes for everyone else running as well. I will say this, Trump has more to lose if he turns out to be a Benedict Arnold than the others do. I think Trump’s brand, his name, means everything to him. If everything he’s said to get here is smoke and mirrors, his name will be cursed by millions.
We have 2 good candidates right now, we haven’t had that in a long time and anyone not understanding that is not movement the rest of us are. Ted Cruz is a good candidate and I would gladly vote for him. I just may think Trump can swing the hammer a little harder. Want to know why that matters, look up a weasely GOP consultant named Rick Wilson
Wait, did I mention Heidi Cruz first?
Did I?
NO, I responded to a ridiculous post.
That said, there are several diversions and digressions from the main thread topic.
What else is new?
Man this is Twilight Zone!
Loco, Don’t fall into the Cruz Trump trap. They try and right him off as the reality TV star running for president and dismiss what he’s accomplished. He’s the only Nationalist running everyone else is a a Globalist. That’s very important. I know I’m not going to change your opinion. All I’m asking is keep an open mind because the GOP shits about to get real.
“What Trump will do that is worse than Hillary or Sanders?”
He will GET Hillary elected by imploding prior to the election.
What will he do?
Who knows? There may be a tape out there just waiting to be played.
What’s on it?
Who knows, maybe he called someone a nigger in a fit of rage?
Would that doom him?
It would anyone else, maybe not him.
Never mind. You don’t understand Donald J. You think he got where he is by spouting off racial slurs? I can see it now while in negotiations with the Chinese, “Look you fucking slopes, it’s my way are the hiway.” I’m sure this is how he reached his level of success.
Loco, you just entered the idiot zone.
“Brokered convention.”
Yep. That’s why Yeb dropped out tonight. Rubio is the one.
“What Trump will do that is worse than Hillary or Sanders?”
He will GET Hillary elected by imploding prior to the election.
>>>
Do I need to repeat this again?
This post is about if Trump is our nominee.
It’s not about the primary, it’s about AFTER the primary and the possibility Trump is the nominee.
It’s about sites that, to my observation, seem ready to not lend any support to Trump whatsoever if he is the nominee.
In fact, they seem poised to campaign against him.
It’s fair to do that now.
What if he wins?
You’re not addressing that.
I asked what he will do that is worse than Hillary and Bernie and your answer is he might say and do something stupid that will get Hillary elected.
So, you’re input, if Trump should win the primary, is to not support him because he might say something stupid?
Let me preface my comment by reiterating what I have posted every time the subject comes up: I will vote for the Republican nominee.
Now, I would like to point out what I think might be a source of conflict in the comments on this post. That is, the title, “It’s Time to Have the Talk,” implies that this is a watershed moment; that perhaps Trump’s nomination is a foregone conclusion. I know, Fur, you wrote all sorts of qualifiers, but it’s easy to read right past those when your candidate has just placed third, and everyone on TV is talking about Trump’s coronation.
So while some Trumpies have been hammering Cruz as a liar, and all sorts of other harsh comments, it feels like we Cruzers are all supposed to fall in line behind Trump and swallow our serious reservations about him, because we might damage him for the general election if we express ourselves. Which would feel a lot like surrendering. Or bending over and relaxing after we dropped the soap in the prison shower.
I, for one, will probably just lapse into comment silence if and when Trump wins the nomination. Like Mom always said, if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.
I was supporting Trump a few months ago.
If you remember, you sent me a Trump magnet.
Since then he has disgusted me.
Will he be worse than Hillary?
Not likely, but that is the problem.
We know Hillary.
Do we really know Trump?
Can we trust him?
So my question to you Fur:
If I don’t trust Trump, how can I possibly say he won’t do something worse for the country and republic than Hillary, who at least has two other branches of government that MAY fight her off.
Arf, arf, arf!
old_oaks…
Off topic!
NO SOUP FOR YOU!
Golly G. Willikers,
How literary of you. Will you vote Trump or not. Once again you talk like someone who has not bore the brunt of the Clinton, Bush, Obama economy. So will you vote Trump if he’s the guy or no?
P.S. – I would like to second FunnelMan. I applaud the way BFH had handled the whole primary season. Much appreciated.
P.P.S. – I have been curious about one thing: How many Trumpies stayed home in 2012 because they couldn’t work up the enthusiasm to vote for the RINO, Romney? Because as far as I’m concerned, EXCEPT FOR THE WALL, AND DEPORTING 12 MILLION ILLEGALS (which I believe to be an under-estimation), Trump makes Romney look like a John Bircher.
I don’t know how much more plainly I can write it, Brad! Did you read the first paragraph? “I will vote for the Republican nominee.” If that is Trump, then I will vote for Trump (even though typing that just made me throw up a little bit in my mouth).
And I’ve been living through the same economy that everyone else has been living through. But I do not share your faith that Trump will NECESSARILY make that all better. He may, but he may not. It depends on which Trump shows up for work in the oval office.
Didn’t you say you live in Hawaii? It all makes sense now.
So you’re not going to push for Trump in the general election because he “might” be worse than Hillary?
His campaign promises sound pretty damn good.
But he “might not” fulfill them.
So let’s not pull for him and allow Hillary, whose campaign promises sound pretty friggin’ awful, win.
How about I write a post saying that we should support Hillary because she might be lying to her base and she “might” be a president we would like?
Sounds pretty stupid when repeated back to you, no?
Yes I am a pirate…200 years too late
The cannons don’t thunder there’s nothing to plunder
I’m an over forty victim of fate
Arriving too late…
Who said I was supporting Hillary?
You mentioned how Trump could be worse.
My trust issue in a nutshell:
Trump blasts Bush for invading Iraq.
Says he was against it from day one.
Two days later a video emerges of Trump saying just the opposite years ago.
T R U M P
T R U S T
Looking for the S T, not supporting Hillary
Golly,
I’m not asking Cruz voters to throw in the towel.
No way, no how.
This post is directed at Trump haters who might have to come to grips with a Trump nominee.
The post title refers to the time being right to ask Trump haters what they will do if Trump wins, and it’s looking like that is as much a possibility, if not more so, than a Cruz or Rubio win.
Trump is expected to manhandle Nevada.
I would be asking the same thing of Cruz haters if he looked like he will win.
In fact, if the tide turns I will write a similar post to the unhinged Cruz haters.
I’ll vote for Trump, hell I would vote for any of the original 16. I’d Bern in Hill before I’d vote for the other two. We can’t afford people taking their ball and going home!
Loco,
My original critique stands.
You’re responding to a post that doesn’t exist.
This is about Trump being the nominee.
It’s about what people who hate Trump will do if he wins.
You don’t have to vote for Hillary to help her win. You can NOT vote for Trump.
I love being labeled a “Trump Hater”
That is so funny!
As a sentient human being I cannot question the predisposed candidate?
Sorry, I will fall in line directly.
Arbeit macht frei
If they don’t answer your question then you know the answer. Pretty disgusting in my book.
Just an observation here.
Remember when Fred Thompson ran and people accused him of not having any “fire in the belly?”)
Regardless of my own preference, I’m happy to report that I see three Republican candidates with…
FIRE IN THEIR BELLY!!
Personally, I’m very encouraged. Trump, Cruz and Rubio… WANT IT.
Step back ask yourself when was the last time we had THAT?
Loco, But you never did answer the question, did you.
“What Trump will do that is worse than Hillary or Sanders?”
I already answered but I will continue:
Since he is a republican, if he installs liberal judges, and caves on the wall and immigration, the next preezy election a liberal democrat will run AND win.
So, we get four years of a semi-conservative-republican-liberal chameleon and then eight years of Moochelle, eight years of Chelsea.
Yes, the republican brand is FUCKED.
Can Trump unfuck it or fuck it more?
I agree with Funnel (cake?) Man. Well played, Mr. Hat. I got kicked off RS (seems everyone is) if you post anything anti-cruz, even in the slightest. Sooper is off his nut. I go to CTH once in a while, but cant stand All Trump all the Time. I prefer diversity, and the posters here have that. Kudos to them. And you dont seem to be playing favorites, (although i can think of one person you should ban.) Again, well played.
I was all up for Walker, then Cruz, and now Trump. I will support Cruz if he makes the cut, but it doesnt look like it.
“Since he is a republican, if he installs liberal judges, and caves on the wall and immigration, the next preezy election a liberal democrat will run AND win”
Cocaine is a terrible drug.
Agreed, I haven’t done coke since I hooked up with a stripper in LA 20 years ago.
AbigailAdams
I hope you keep posting since you’re one of a handful that can keep on point with facts and without insults!
“Anyone who sits out in November I will consider a part of the enemy camp.” Geoff C. The Saltine
^ It doesn’t get any simpler than that!
Golly G. Willikers,
My apologies, I missed it. Thank you.
There’s going to come a point in time when we need to come together. No matter who was our favorite. I will do the same.
If I can veer off topic without being smacked with a ruler by Catholic Nun BFH, I believe I am misunderstood.
If you pay attention to my posts, they certainly don’t always offer a pro Cruz disposition when I blast Trump.
I defend Cruz occasionally but my criticism of Trump has nothing to do with being pro Cruz.
To me that is shallow and partisan.
“My guy is better than your guy!”
I have my issues with Cruz too.
It is simply a fact that Trump is a quasar that dwarfs the mere planets in the race and therefore gets the attention that he deserves (and desires).
One more thing.
People WILL sit out this election.
It is up to TRUMP to contain that.
I believe he has made some mistakes that will ensure that some people will sit out this election.
Blasting George W Bush was very unnecessary.
Tell me I am wrong?
Well it certainly didn’t cause a rise in Jeb!’s poll numbers.
Gotcha, BFH and Brad. In 2012, Romney was my Jeb! (i.e., the last guy I wanted to nominate), but after he got the nod, I got behind him like he was Reagan, reincarnated. I’m sure I’ll do the same with Trump when the chips are down.
We’re having a rare power outage here, so I have to type on this effing phone screen or sign off. I’m signing off.
Later, fellow patriots.
Your wrong.
If I can veer off topic without being smacked with a ruler.
Hey, I didn’t smack you with a ruler so WTF? Dude it was 12 inches long but why so touchy?
I want a outsider.Cruz isn’t a real outsider. The people in the senate may not like him but he is not a outsider. They all go to the same parties their children goto the same school. The older kids date each other and go to the same colleges. The real outsiders Trump and Carson.
If I didn’t know any better I would think this is one of those
“lesser of two evils” arguments.
Say it isn’t so?
Leende.
Yep, only a true outsider would give money to Hillary, Pelosi, Reid, Schumer, Planned Parenthood, etc…
Wait what?
TO LBS
Two points about your comments
“People WILL sit out this election. It is up to TRUMP to contain that.”
No, it is up to EACH OF US to make sure that the “Concern Trolls” do not DIVIDE AND CONQUER (…which includes DEMORALIZATION) us ahead of the election. I’ve seen them for a couple of weeks, and this is ONLY THE BEGINNING. We’ve got to stand together, when it finally comes to that moment.
“Blasting George W Bush was very unnecessary.”
It was unnecessary only if you are of the opinion that winning an election is unnecessary. This was South Carolina (I bet you don’t live there, so don’t judge him by YOUR state’s “criteria”). It was an OPEN Primary. He chose to appeal to as many voters as he wanted, and won accordingly. Granted, that’s not ideologically pure, but that’s not the objective of the race, is it?!
Remember the crazy ass Ron Paul voters. That’s who hates trump.
Libertarians and the evangelicals.
They were born nuts. They won’t change.
WRONG “go trump”.
SC is HEAVY on Evangelicals, where Cruz was expected to be strong.
Yet 75% of EVANGEICALS in SC went for Trump.
IN ANY CASE, the points I really wanted to make, however, were that:
Trump won ALL counties except for TWO, where Rubot got the Establishment vote.
Cruz got ZERO delegates in a State where he was expected – and NEEDED – to have a good showing.
Realistically, Cruz doesn’t seem to have the “traction” needed to win the nomination. SO, in that event, how can we bring together those of us on the Right to defeat Hillary (or “Dem Surprise Candidate X”)?
Funnel Man makes an excellent point about Trump for all you doubters. He has made promises and staked his reputation on them. If he were to back away from building the wall or returning the “syrian refugees” the lifetime he’s spent building his brand would be in tatters.
Have you read The Art of the Deal? He constantly references how he is able to put together phenomenally complicated deals because people know he does what he says he will do.
A betrayal would affect his bottom line big time and he of course knows that. Actually as Trump points out in his book, it’s not the bottom line, it’s what he can put in his pocket so here’s a bit of semantic juggling. But still…
I hate to say it but the Cruz zealots remind me of the ABR(anyone but Romney) voters in 2012. While there was still an increase in Republican turnout from 2008, despite the oft repeated lie that 4 million conservatives stayed home, there’s no doubt a lot of conservatives didn’t vote for Romney for a host of reasons-wasn’t conservative enough, too rich, a Mormon…
Impossible to understand how they would rationalize a Hillary administration would be better then Trump. That’s the land of the GOPe who know Trump is a DC establishment killer.
The only person I would not have voted for is Jeb and he’s gone, so my support will go to the nominee. Even though I believe Rubio will be another cut in the string of “Death by a 1000 paper cuts”, it certainly is better than Sanders or Billarys Hari Kari blade to finish off the job Obama started.
Cruz is my preferred choice, but deep down I think Trump is going to take the nomination.
As for Trump, I believe he loves this country enough to do what he can (in his view) to save it. Sanders and Billary’s sole intentions are to finish transforming us into a failed European state.
Ask yourself, would you buy a used car from Donald Trump? Of course not – but yet we believe every promise he makes as if it had already come to pass. I cannot make myself support an arrogant, obnoxious blowhard simply on the promise that he’s somehow going to make everything great. How great? Really great….
I held my nose and voted for McCain. Ditto Romney.
I favor both Cruz and Trump, not necessarily in that order, and for different reasons. If Rubio spit gets nominated, I will vote for him with the same enthusiasm I had in the ’08 & ’12 elections. But I will vote.
I’ll save my long-game analysis/post-mortem, hold my fire, and keep carving away at this mess on a local level as long as I am able.
Looks like “the New” is happy to put scRubio ahead of Cruz this am after the SC primary.
BigGovt’ll get their amnesty imposed on the citizens one way or another.
Hillary’s judicial picks will be vetted in the same manner as Dons’ pick will be. Don will look for one that is a consistant R and Hillary’s will be consistant P so basically, we ll choices for progressive DemonRats or Progressive Repukicans.
Trump and his “going to have the smartest people working on problems” crap is a steaming pile.
I win’t contribute to his ego trip. We lose because of one vote, it’s on you all for assuming I’ll roll over like I did the last five times. We have the best chance to vote for a constitutionalist and you idiots want a Nationalist that has trouble remembering what he said yesterday. Leave me out of it.
If Trump is the nominee I will vote for him, like I voted for McCain and Romney…….I am tired of the lesser of two evils. I am not sure if my conscience will let me do it again……
If Cruz is the nominee I will vote for him like I mean it, with a YUUUGE smile on my face
I wonder what it feels like to vote FOR a candidate, instead of AGAINST the communists……
I am with rightwinger.
I would have voted for ANY of the candidates other than Jeb, simply because I was told 2 years ago by the media that Jeb was the presumptive nominee.
Sorry, me no likey that bullshit, and the GOP was going to hear loud and clear that that will never happen again.
I’m okay with Truzio, and I’m not going to kill this country by having a hissy fit and allowing the left to take this country further into the armpit.
Amnestyboy scRubio’s Amnesty will kill America just like it killed California. Demo votes forever – til voting doesn’t matter anymore, if it even does now.
Reagan’s Greatest Regret.
I don’t think Trump is a conservative. He’s a businessman. Cruz is a smart Republican, and for so many years I would vote for a Republican because they understand business (Goldman Sachs connection wouldn’t hurt a Repub). No candidate wins the election without getting the middle 20% of those who vote. Liberals play like they are ‘Moderates’ and usually convince many in the middle. Repubs haven’t had a successful marketing campaign since Regan, Bush had lousy opponents. Hillary is not lousy, I mean not a lousy opponent. 🙂 Trump can win by appealing to that middle 20% because he’s not a ‘vast right-wing conspiracy’ candidate.
I’d rather have a true conservative President (and Congress) for 8 years, but if it’s Trump, I think he can beat Hillary handily. Sanders is paid for by Hillary’s big money as the ‘sleight’ to keep the wacked out left in check until she wins enough super delegates, which she has put down on lay-a-way.
