Japan Is Supercharging Its Military In Response To China Threat

Daily Caller:

Japan’s military requested a record defense budget for 2023 Wednesday following several moves designed to improve its defenses against a rising threat from China.

The 5.6 trillion yen request, equivalent to roughly $40.4 billion, could grow to as much as 6.5 trillion yen once procurement costs for some weapons can be defined after the government adopts a new national security strategy in December, The Associated Press reported. Concerns over China’s military buildup has accelerated Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s drive to expand Japan’s military over the next five years and deepen security cooperation with the U.S., Israel and neighbors in the Asia-Pacific.

“China continues to threaten to use force to unilaterally change the status quo and is deepening its alliance with Russia,” the ministry said in its budget request, according to Reuters.

Kishida has advocated to double the Japanese military’s defense spending from 1% of the country’s GDP to 2%, roughly 10 trillion yen or $72 billion, paralleling NATO’s spending quota, The Wall Street Journal reported in April. That could make Japan’s military the world’s third largest behind the U.S. and China. more here

  1. One silver lining of Biden’s just god-awful foreign policy is that our allies must come to terms with the brutal fact that they are on their own.

In the past, the world’s democracies could count on the might of America’s projection of power to provide comfort and stability. That is now a remnant of a bygone era, which is kinda what the globalists wanted all along. So now countries like Australia, Japan, S.Korea, Indonesia and the Philippines, faced with a revanchist China breathing down their necks, must rely on their own defenses.

  2. There’s no doubt that they could spin up to awesome pretty fucking fast. Just because their constitution says they are to be demilitarized doesn’t mean squat. Wouldn’t surprise me if word got out they “suddenly” had some nukes and hypersonic missiles.

  5. They will cash out their Treasury notes, demanding gold. All their future trade will be done in gold, rubles, rupees, rice, maybe even TP (which has real value, unlike the now-communis-controlled USDollar).

  6. I hear the Japanese are now training up hundreds of pilots in taking off and flying and avoiding anti aircraft missiles .. but, in order to expedite training, theyre not teaching how to land the plane

They’re calling it “crash course” pilot training
