Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance blasted a planned $2.36 billion battery parts plant in mid-Michigan for its ties to China, speaking near the factory’s site in a campaign rally on Tuesday, Aug. 27.

Vance, the running mate of former President Donald Trump, was joined by Michigan GOP lawmakers at a farm near Big Rapids where they stirred up criticism linking Chinese battery maker Gotion Inc. to the Chinese Communist Party, calling the Gotion plant “a threat to America’s national security.” More

The local community lost a legal battle to rescind the agreement letting Gotion develop land for the battery plant. This despite the citizens recalling and replacing the elected officials who allowed the deal in the first place. Here

    Yeah… the citizens might want to check out the lifestyles and bank accounts of those recalled elected officials because they haven’t even started building yet and …

    Gotion “has already invested over $24 million into the project by way of real estate acquisition costs and other related fees.”

    Huh. I didn’t realize 270 acres of rural land cost so much in Mecosta County, or that the “other related fees” were so high… Maybe those elected officials and their friends added a few handling fees of their own…?

    They nixed a factory that wanted to build on that land because they would use too much water.

    Then, they approved Gotion even though they will be using twice as much water.

    I don’t think they care about the environment with the amount of moola they are getting.
