Jerkface Teen Cuts Down One of the Most Iconic Trees on the Planet

A shitstain like that, who could be so callous and uncaring, is someone that would have total disregard for just about anything else on the planet. Shoot him into space.

Newser-

English police are investigating a murder … of a tree. The beloved Sycamore Gap tree stood in a natural dip between rolling cliffs next to Hadrian’s Wall, a former defensive fortification, in Northumberland National Park. The BBC’s Mark Denten describes it as “one of the most iconic trees in Britain, and probably the world.” Thought to be several hundred years old, the sycamore featured in 1991’s Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and was named England’s tree of the year in 2016.

Authorities in northern England have arrested a 16-year-old boy who is accused of cutting down a world-famous tree, reports the BBC. The unidentified teen is being held on suspicion of criminal damage over the felling of the tree near Hadrian’s Wall, a landmark from the Roman Empire, per the AP. “You can forgive nature doing it, but you can’t forgive that,” says Alison Hawkins, who was one of the first people to see the damage Thursday morning.

  1. I follow a Scottish history guide on Instagram and he’s taken some lovely videos of Hadrian’s Wall and this old tree. He announced this today and my heart just sank. It’s so terribly sad.

Why? Why do this?!? I don’t understand so much about the world today. I miss yesterdays. 😢

  2. So was the little Lumber Jack an immigrant? Related, I watched some fat person of color with breasts saying that stealing shit from stores was Restitution and we’re just getting started. Same mentality.

  4. WERE WE AS DISTURBED WHEN THE ISIS “CALIPHATE” DESTROYED SO MUCH OF THE MIDDLE EAST BIBLICAL ARCHEOLOGY??

THE WORLD IS BEING DESTROYED, CHILDREN ARE BEING STOLEN AWAY, AND GOD’S VENGEANCE WILL BE SOMETHING EXPONENTIALLY BEYOND ANY PAIN THE WORLD HAS YET ENDURED

  5. Hmm, a 16 year old with the equipment and wherewithal to do this? Where did he get the tool(s) neccessary to fell this tree in one very clean cut? How did he get there and back with said equipment? How did he learn where to start the cut and how to hold the blade steady and for how long?

Something’s rotten in the State of Denmark me thinks.

  6. A kid did not do this. Look at the BBC link, the butt of the tree is four feet wide. You can see a man next to the stump. To fall a tree of that size takes a lot of skill , no 16 year old did this.
I have a 24 inch stil I can cut 40 inch logs but it has to be a double cut one from each side, that was a clean cut done by a professional to get it to fall like that.

  7. Knowing England, they’ll pass laws requiring a license to own and operate a chainsaw. And it’ll have to an electric chainsaw, too — no fossil-fueled chainsaws for you, buddy. Maybe if they had put some of those stupid cameras on the tree instead of the road, this wouldn’t have happened.

  8. You must understand that the end of days are rapidly approaching where everything of value, beauty, and meaning that reflects the Lord God Almighties blessings and wonder will be destroyed.

Only organic Satanic coarseness, hate, and demonic spiritual actions will prevail to bring down natural and beautiful perfection.

This Luciferian desecration is no different than Fetterman wearing hood rat gear on the floor of the Senate. All standards and human transactions are to be devalued to the lowest possible common denominator.

That is who the devil is, the lowest common denominator that divides everything and conquers this precious world and steals its blessings from our children and grandchildrens future.

  9. My first thought is that took more than one teenager.
Look at how clean that cut is.
And like others have pointed out that had to be a specialized chainsaw. The cut wouldn’t be that clean and a regular saw wouldn’t be able to cut that deep into a tree that large.
They aren’t telling the entire story.

  10. Just another example of how evil society has become due to loss of morals, values, truth, proper upbringing and education. Society has lost respect for all things, even human life. Thanks all you progressive leftists and minions of satan.

  11. Want a picture of the perp please. Someone’s displacing a lot of anger. Proportion is an interesting element in human psychology, a tree is just a tree until it becomes ‘the’ tree. A life is just a life until it becomes ‘the’ life.

We very quickly forget that which is no longer present. That is why statues are erected and that is also why statues are taken down. Our outrage is ephemeral.

  12. The entire Forest in this area was destroyed, except this one sycamore tree. Now they’re mourning?

Trees are a renewable resource, Plant another tree.
In 200 years no one will be the wiser.

  13. As I type this there’s a sycamore about five feet distant in front of me in the back yard by the river. Six to six and a half feet in diameter at its base. Best guess about a hundred twenty five years old from stories told by relatives passed.

Been told by a few forestry types who should know of what they speak that it’s the biggest sycamore they’ve ever seen. If it ever has to come down while I’m still alive I fear the cost as much of the upper branches (the size of normal trees) shade the house

Angie! Can I use the picture of you and the kids standing in front of it to send to the group?

  14. Whoever cut it down is a creepster, no doubt.

But, IMO no tree is an icon. The word is way overused. I have been to Hadrian’s wall and read a lot history, but I never heard of this tree. I think of icons as the religious pictures Russians put on the walls of their homes. Not trees, celebrities, politicians, or anything else.

  15. i have felled some trees as a non professional. a proper fell requires a hinge cut. definite hinge cut in the pics. not only is the hinge visible but it is uniform. i suppose a 16 yo could do it, but not likely. if the tree is 4 feet at the base the saw would have to be large as well. i live in heavy oak tree area with trees growing like weeds. i have a chainsaw capable taking a 4 footer, but few others do. it just does not happen very often. most of the trees that size have already been taken years ago. even now my large saw is out on loan. need some knowledge and bigguns between the legs to do the job correctly.
