she came on my pirrow…
…John D himself didnt actually know anything about WVa when he wrote that, and admitted as much. Closest he’d been was neighboring Va, and while the coal mine parts are similar, those are not the same thing.
…nevertheless, WVa IS beautiful country even if you have to admire it from a minimum 20 degrees off camber, and they were thrilled to have someone say ANYTHING about the state that didnt involve moonshine, so thats why they took it to heart.
Someone who HAD been there would have probably made a scarier song about the sound of a fully laden coal truck bearing down a steep winding mountain road growing rapidly in your rear view mirror with the Jake Brake bellowing and air horn ahowl without any evident influence on its speed as you admire the thousand foot dropoff just outside your window, so its probably for the best that he just made stuff up…

Has there ever been a hit song about being in love with Delaware?
I didn’t think so. Especially not lately.

@Jethro — I do like Thorogood but that number doesn’t come any closer to Delaware than goin’ up that highway they call highway 95 before cruisin’ back to his baby. Was his baby named ‘Delaware’ by chance? We will never know!
…still looking for that ‘being in love with Delaware’ ballad…
Gholly Ghe, give the guy a break he was just noodling…
