Former Presidents George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush called on Americans to reject “hatred in all forms,” in a joint statement.

 

The former presidents released the rare joint statement Wednesday in response to the deadly rally in Charlottesville, Virginia last weekend.

“America must always reject racial bigotry, anti-Semitism, and hatred in all forms,” the father and son said in the combined statement from each of their offices.

“As we pray for Charlottesville, we are reminded of the fundamental truths recorded by that city’s most prominent citizen in the Declaration of Independence: we are all created equal and endowed by our Creator with unalienable rights,” they said, referring to Thomas Jefferson. “We know these truths to be everlasting because we have seen the decency and greatness of our country.”  MORE

  8. @Brad – I’ve found you have to pretend you live in their state or your comments get round filed with a message stating something like they can’t take time to read anything that isn’t from someone in the state they represent. The flaming assholes know that their actions affect everyone in the US, but it gives them a convenient excuse for ignoring you.

    I usually just pick a city in their state, find a matching zip code (for filling out the form) and send them a nice nastygram laying out my considered opinion of them.

  12. My misfortune to have that little shit as one of my Senators, the other is the despicable Bill Nelson. I saw through Marco some time back and raise hell to and about him often. Waiting for more people to open their eyes. South Florida has a heavy Cuban influence and he’s a little suck up. More work to do.

  13. I hope the press notes the Presidents Bush quoting a racist slave-holding rapist. That means they totally agree with everything Jefferson did and want the US to return to those days.
