Florida’s lawsuit against the Biden administration’s “catch-and-release” policy will move forward following a ruling Wednesday from a federal judge who said Biden’s border policies have created “little more than a speedbump” for illegal migrants.
The United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida ruled that the state’s case can proceed after it was filed in 2021, Fox News reported.
The Sunshine State argued that President Joe Biden’s catch-and-release border policies harmed Florida’s “quasi-sovereign interests” and violated federal immigration law.
Florida Republicans Attorney General Ashley Moody and Gov. Ron DeSantis filed the case to “uphold the rule of law despite the Biden administration’s decision to violate the law.”
Judge T. Kent Wetherell said in his ruling on Wednesday that the court was “wholly unpersuaded” by the Biden administration’s arguments and called the White House’s policy “as remarkable as it is wrong,” according to the ruling, which Fox obtained. more
