Judge Says California must eye earlier parole for sex offenders

KFI: SACRAMENTO (AP) — California must consider earlier parole for potentially thousands of sex offenders, maybe even those convicted of pimping children, a state judge said Friday.

Sacramento County Superior Court Judge Allen Sumner preliminarily ordered prison officials to rewrite part of the regulations for Proposition 57. The 2016 ballot measure allows consideration of earlier parole for most state prison inmates, but Gov. Jerry Brown promised voters all sex offenders would be excluded.

That goes too far, Sumner said in rejecting Deputy Attorney General Maria Chan’s argument that the ballot measure gave state officials broad discretion to exclude any class of offenders whose release might harm public safety.

“If the voters had intended to exclude all registered sex offenders from early parole consideration under Proposition 57, they presumably would have said so,” Sumner said.

He said the scope of exclusions should be narrowed to only those now serving time for a violent sex offense. And he said the Corrections Department must better define what falls into that category.  read more

  1. But a guy hired by Kelley who MAY have ALLEGEDLY possibly might have slapped his former wife is proof-positive that ALL CONSERVATIVES from Trump down to the lowliest dog-catcher are patriarchal women-hating misogynists who must be expunged from civil society?

Yeah. Let’s give early parole to ACTUAL CONVICTED sex-offenders while pretending to be offended by political opponents we can smear with a broad, unproven brush.

The fucking hypocrisy is truly astounding.
How does the maggotry stay quiet with this?

    izlamo delenda est …

  2. Californians should have known better than hiring Jerry Brown again! He screwed them over the first time in the 70’s & 80’s. All the while, chasing around with Hollyweird & Linda Ronstadt. Brown acted like a DS, irreverent, erudite boob back then. I was a kid and I saw through him. Did they think he would become any less of an incompetent fool or slathering liberal parasite?

  3. When some nut job judge makes a ruling like this I would contribute to a gofundme request to buy a house next door to judge’s home offering the sex criminals free housing to live there. The judges should be forced to put their own families at risk from their unwise decisions. It might result in common sense judgements in the future.

  4. I think everyone is overlooking one salient fact: The basis of all this is Proposition 57, APPROVED BY THE VOTERS! “The 2016 ballot measure allows consideration of earlier parole for most state prison inmates.” The same stupid democrat, lowfo voters that put Jerry Brown, et al into office, voted for this! Since most of the voters are democrat, it follows, logically, that they are themselves convicted felons, or have a close family member who is one.
