Fairly easy to impeach a judge, but maybe they’re worried about their experience the last time they did that. After the late Alcee Hastings was tossed ignominiously off the bench for taking bribes, he ran for a seat in the House, the body that convicted him, and won a seat. And IMO continued with the bribe taking for several terms.
