WaTimes– FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — The Kentucky Republican Party has agreed to hold a presidential caucus for Rand Paul — but only if he shows them the money.
The party’s executive committee approved a proposal on Saturday to hold a presidential caucus on March 5. The plan would let Paul run for president and re-election to his Senate seat at the same time without violating state law that bans candidates from appearing on the ballot twice in the same election.
But the caucus could cost as much as $500,000, and the Republican Party has less than $170,000 in cash on hand according to its latest disclosure report. In a letter to party officials earlier this week, Paul claimed to have transferred $250,000 to the Republican Party to cover the cost of the caucus. But that turned out not to be true, angering some Republicans and jeopardizing Paul’s support. more
What an ass-wipe. He is not serious about running for President. He just wants to get his mouth out there in front of the cameras just like Miss Graham admitted he was doing in the debate.
He is also diluting the not-Jeb vote and probably being paid by the GOPe. I really didn’t think he would be such a money hungry charlatan.
Everything’s for sale!
Harpo’s grandson…
McCain did the same. Lieberman ran foe VP and Senate reelection at the same time.
As bad as Dole was as the nominee, at least he resigned to run for Pres.
Money talks, bullshit walks.
rand paul is buying the primary election for $250,000.
He’s a loser who will walk out of the presidential race defeated and remain as US Senator.
Walking away from (losing) the primary for presidency is a win for the nation, rand winning re-election as Senator is a loss.
mcCONell must be pleased to have his good buddy rand split the vote for his progressive country club candidate….bush.
Meh. We don’t want to lose him as senator. He had a shot at president, it’s gone now but he wants to add to the discussion. It looks bad but isn’t unusual.
Why don’t we want to lose him as a senator? Staph infections aren’t unusual either, doesn’t mean we want one though.
He’d better stick with his day job.
