Kentucky Legislators Prepare for a Possible McConnell Early Departure

Kentucky lawmakers gave final approval Thursday to a bill stripping the state’s Democratic governor of any role in picking someone to occupy a U.S. Senate seat if a vacancy occurred in the home state of 82-year-old Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell.

The legislation calls for a special election to fill any Senate vacancy from the Bluegrass State. The special election winner would hold the seat for the remainder of the unexpired term. More

  1. McConnell ran for reelection in 2020, now he’s taking the party down because he can’t stand the idea of someone else being in charge. McConnell trashed Kelly Tshibaka in Alaska and tried to tank J. D. Vance in Ohio. McConnell should quietly “do” his remaining two years, collect his pay, then leave quietly and humbly.

  2. Gov Beshear is a leftist. Lexington and Louisville are run by far leftists and, being the largest leftist towns, overwhelm the state wide election for governor. The remainder of KY is conservative, so both houses have veto proof republican majorities. Beshear’s vetos have mostly been laughed at and overturned. BLM burned, looted, car jacked, and mobs stopped traffic, and ran over 300 businesses out of downtown Louisville while the pinko leftist mayor ordered the police to stand down. A friend of ours is a county judge in Downtown Louisville and, while at work, BLM bullets came flying through her window. No one in authority cared.
