Yahoo: It was the hashtag that turned the spotlight on the crisis of Nigerian girls and women being abducted by Boko Haram: #BringBackOurGirls. But now that government and humanitarian efforts are resulting in some women being rescued from the Islamic militant group and returned to their homes, it seems not all Nigerians are welcoming them with open arms.
According to a joint report released Tuesday by UNICEF and human rights group International Alert, many women and teen girls who were once held by Boko Haram are being rejected by their families and communities. People treat the former captives with mistrust over fears the women have become radicalized supporters of the extremists. But the suspicious behavior of family members tends to become explicit persecution if the former captives bore children after being sexually assaulted by members of Boko Haram. more
I’d trade them for the Islamo refugees we’re bringing in, in a heartbeat. I feel very sorry for them. The women, not the Islamos.
It’s hard to imagine a more tragic story.
Islam… “What, you were raped? Well, now you’re a whore for your whole life!”
This very week, I had to school my 12 y/o’s principal on Islam, ISIS, Boko, ect… My boy rejected their ‘class’ on Islam, and refused to participate. The principal called me about his ‘behavior’, and I asked him if he would force an Muslim to participate in a ‘cultural exchange’ while learning about Jews or Christians… Then I asked him about the Koran, Hadith, and how they were fluffing up a child rapist… Also, if he would like it if I showed up in a niquab to pick up my boy…He got really nervous and said my son would no longer have to attend the class. Heh.
Oh, come on … nobody’s ever heard of the “Rape of the Sabine Women?”
This kind of persecution is as old as time, itself.
Good for you, Brooke !!
More parents need to step up.
“class on Islam”…WTF?
