King MacHamletello – IOTW Report

King MacHamletello

Imagine taking all the villains from Shakespeare’s four great tragedies (Hamlet, Othello, King Lear, and Macbeth) and putting them all on the stage together. Set them to work on a plot to save one of their own while conspiring to take down a conquering outsider and you have all the makings for a modern political drama. Now overlay the real scandal of power and abuse that has been playing out for over 2 years in Washington D.C. and you have Michael Doran’s account of corruption at the heart of our government.

Playing Lady Macbeth for us this evening will be Hillary Clinton, running around the globe screaming “Out damning e-mails” as she depends on the kindness of others to save her from jail and losing the presidency. We have Glen Simpson of Fusion GPS as Iago, creating false narratives and spreading poisonous lies about the outsider who isn’t particularly well-liked by the governing city. Peter Strzok and Lisa Page assume the roles of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, who get a thrill out of being minor cogs in the plot and rubbing shoulders with real villains. Barack Obama joins our cast as King Claudius who uses other minor characters to carry out his wish to take down the troublesome hero who is upsetting his plans. Even Joe Biden is here strutting the stage as Polonius, the insufferable wise old fool no one wants to listen to.

You name the individual conspirator in Doran’s account of the Hillary E-mail/ Fake Dossier scandal and I’ll give you a Shakespeare bad guy to match. Actually after reading this whole piece, I’m starting to think we’ve got more evil doers who have darkened the halls of power than Shakespeare ever created. More

  1. What a fine piece of writing.
It would almost serve as a prosecutor’s opening statement to a jury in some upcoming criminal trial. Openings need to tell a story, outline for the jury, Mae the jury curious about what the evidence will show. Doran did a great job putting things together.
