Kucinich Enters Race for Ohio Governor

Washington Free Beacon: Former Democratic congressman and mayor of Cleveland Dennis Kucinich is running to be elected Governor of Ohio.

Kucinich, who previously served eight terms in Congress, filed paperwork on Monday with the Ohio Secretary of State to declare his candidacy and name a campaign treasurer, the Springfield News-Sun reports. He joins a field of six other Democratic hopefuls, including Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley, former U.S. Rep. Betty Sutton of the Akron area, state Sen. Joe Schiavoni of Boardman, Ohio Supreme Court Justice Bill O’Neill, former state Rep. Connie Pillich of Cincinnati and former Attorney General Richard Cordray.

Kucinich, 71, ran for his party’s presidential nomination in 2004 and 2008 on a progressive platform, which included single-payer health care, free college, legalizing same-sex marriage, and legalizing marijuana.

Since then, these positions have become more mainstream among Democrats, but Kucinich still makes statements critical of the party.

Before Donald Trump’s inauguration, Kucinich said President Barack Obama left the party “out to dry,” and more recently Kucinich has criticized Democrats for calling for President Trump’s impeachment, saying there isn’t a strong case for it.

  1. Kucinich is the worthless, little, federal tit-sucking, POS parasite who sold his vote on Obamadontcare for an airplane ride (AF1) and an icecream cone! I damn sure don’t want him Governor of Ohio!

  2. Kucinich is not the worst person oHIo could get for their governor (see the incumbent), but he certainly is not the best person for that job.
For oHIo’s sake, I hope that better person stands up.

  3. We love Uncle Denny here in the Buckeye State. Whenever he pops up on the TV here at work, we all sit up and take notice. Mostly because we hope Mrs. Kucinich will be with him.

I happened to be out in the wastelands of Madrid, NM in late 2003. There were Uncle Denny for Preezy posters everywhere. Those artsy fartsy desert livers sure loved them some Uncle Denny.

With six other Dem contenders lined up to try for Kaysuck’s job (term limits, ya know), I reckon Uncle Denny has about as good a shot as I do for the nomination.
