Landlord Blasts “We Didn’t Start the Fire” While Torching His Own Building

A landlord in Duluth deliberately set his apartment on fire, all while blasting Billy Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” according to recently filed charges.

Travis Carlson, 37, faces one felony charge of first-degree arson in connection to the May 18 incident, court documents show.

According to the criminal complaint, officers were dispatched shortly after 4 a.m. to the 2400 block of Fourth Street in Duluth on the report of an upstairs apartment on fire. When emergency crews arrived, they found the upstairs apartment on fire with “We Didn’t Start the Fire” blaring from the unit, the complaint said. More

    “,is it a crime to burn your own house?”

    …it is when you destroy other people’s property, put them at risk, endanger the whole neighborhood if it spreads, and make people risk their lives to put it out, especially since you made its spread and progression unpredictable with the ramdom addition of accellerants and the untypical hazard of a vehicle with a deliberately holed gas tank that I’m guessing he didn’t tell anyone about.

CmnĀ¢Ā¢guy, it would not surprise me in the least if his ā€œtenantsā€ were long-term squatters, living rent-free under the protective shield of leftist bureaucrats, for covid reason or otherwise. The fact that the journos who reported this story do not wax poetic about the plight of the ā€œtenantsā€ leads me to believe that you are correct.
