Larry King, the suspenders-sporting everyman whose broadcast interviews with world leaders, movie stars and ordinary Joes helped define American conversation for a half-century, died Saturday. He was 87.
King died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Ora Media, the studio and network he co-founded, tweeted. No cause of death was given, but CNN reported Jan. 2 that King had been hospitalized for more than a week with COVID-19.
A longtime nationally syndicated radio host, from 1985 through 2010 he was a nightly fixture on CNN, where he won many honors, including two Peabody awards. More
Oh well.
Will his wives attend the funeral or is there a capacity limit due to Covid?
I can’t hear his name without thinking of that hilarious clip of Trump backing up in an interview and telling him his breath stunk.
I woder when he took the covid vax
I used to get his local radio show on WIOD in Miami back in the 70’s. He was argumentative, confrontational, loud, and downright nasty to his callers. I could take only a couple minutes of him. I couldn’t believe it when he got called up to the major leagues.
Best thing that’s happened so far this month.
I never thought much of him. However, I saw him live several years ago where he did about an hour long presentation at a seminar I went to. I couldn’t have been more surprised or impressed with how entertaining he was. RIP Mr. King.
Without any disrespect, I sincerely thought he died years ago. I didn’t know he was still kicking. Godspeed, Larry.
Sorry to hear of his passing. He was probably one of the worst interviewers ever. Which, of course, made him a hero of the left because a liberal could go on his show and get pitched softballs with no follow-ups. He once famously challenged Bob Costas to an interviewer duel with laughable results.
The challenge was to interview someone cold with no prep at all. King would choose Costas’ subject and not tell him who it was until the moment of airtime and vis-versa.
King, being a lousy interviewer, was only concerned with impressing the audience with his liberal credentials so he surprised Costas with Mario Cuomo, the smug and arrogant father of Andrew. But, since Cuomo was the well known governor of New York, Costas conducted a great spontaneous interview with him.
Then, it was Costas’ turn to surprise King. I’ll never forget King’s face when Costas brought out Meatloaf for King to interview. King had no idea who Meatloaf was and ended up struggling and asking fascinating questions like, “What’s your favorite color?”
Of course, I already knew that King was a “great interviewer” like Michelle Obama was a “great beauty” but it was nice to see it confirmed on TV.
Again, sorry to hear of his passing. Nothing personal, I just can’t stand to see some people made out to be brilliant icons when they’re not.
I thought he had smoked himself to death a long time ago
Who cares? Alyssa Milano lost hair because of COVID. People, get your priorities straight 😏
Yet another life cut short by covid.
Just like Bernie and Feinstein, he was well over his due date.
Angie Dickenson will be hosting the funeral.
Bob and Tom show do a running bit on him that he calls in and they’re wondering how he was still alive.
Silenced Forever…
I like it.
Nice touch, in that classy way you focus on.
Is sleepy Joe next?
Never cared for him. He was a supreme asshole.
“Silenced Forever”
One down, many to go.
One less spreader of disinformation.
Another covid victim of Crazy Joe and his stinking hoe! They are starting to add up!
You’ve mistaken me for someone who gives a shit…..
Biden’s Fault! Star Killer.
Another commie democrat propaganda fart bag goes to take his rightful place next to his god, Satan.
Dry eyes all around.
Never watched or heard him.
RIP
