  1. Yep, part of the reason we haven’t had a new reservoir since the mid 70’s. From their website:
“FOR [Friends of the River] is a leading advocate for the return of flows to rivers impacted by dams. After over a decade of negotiations between FOR and its partners with dam operators and Central Valley farmers test flows ran down the lower San Joaquin River for the first time in 60 years. All that is now under threat by the proposed Temperance Flat dam.” F-the delta smelt.

    F**k these environazis.

  2. And now tidal salt water intrusion into the California Delta is going to kill off a Florida Strain Large mouth Bass population second to none. Nice job Kayak freaks. I roost them with my bass boat every time I see them on open water. I hate the bastards.

  3. Wait till it kills off farming in the delta, Brad.

There was talk in the early 70’s of a, ‘sea wall,’ from the bay to help stem the tide of the encroachment of salt water coming up the delta system. The water flows through the delta to help push the salt water out was described by my grandfather as, “flushing the toilet” (to keep the salt out), utilizing the flows from the American River.

  4. Good point, unless you’ve been there you have know idea how much agriculture is on those islands. Last I heard crop don’t grow well with salt water. I hate fucking libs. And make no mistake, these people are libs. If you want to find true stewards of the land and water ways, look to sportsman.

  5. Very nice, loved every minute of it! That “magnetism” pulls on me all the time.

    I’m sharing this link!

If you don’t want to have to wait a year or two for a permit to float the Colorado, try renting a canoe on the Buffalo river in Newton county Arkansas when the water is up. It’s mild enough for kids but still has a few rapids you can shoot or go around, very enjoyable. One of America’s best canoeing rivers.
