Not all Leftists are communists, but all communists are Leftists. And they always behave as communists. One of the things communists believe is that they — magically — own whatever business they work for, and can tell their bosses what to do.
We saw it with the Los Angeles Times and Washington Post after the big-wigs at those papers declined to endorse a candidate and discussed adding more diverse viewpoints to their editorial staffs. The so-called ‘journalists’ attempted to tell Patrick Soon-Shiong and Jeff Bezos how to run the publications. Several resigned (and nothing of value was lost).
In Minneapolis, the workers at a small chain of cafes decided they could strong-arm owners into their woke demands.
Instead, the owner is shutting them down: more
There are times when unions are necessary. Like when mines employed children and made them work 12-14 hrs then made them spend their 25 cent paycheck in the company store.
Otherwise they just drive up the cost of goods while enriching the union bosses and their enforcers.
The worst unions are government unions which was the worst thing JFK ever did.
My first job was washing dishes for minimum wage.
I would not have joined a union to get better pay tho, because I had no intention of washing dishes for the rest of my life.
Try growing up, kids.
Its not as much fun as writing a Marxist Manifesto for your employer, perhaps, but at least you’ll be less “devistated” when you inevitably find out your first job isnt forever…
I never worked in a union, but over the years Ive worked with a lot of people who did.
The reason I worked with them in my non-union shop is because their unions lost them their jobs.
So ultimately, their contracts didnt matter…
“‘Café Cerés charges $16 for a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich”….Let’s say that it’s a four top table and with drinks that’s about a $72 bill. With a 20% tip of $14, then you turn the table over twice an hour, that’s $28 bucks and hour plus minimum wage of $5 an hour…..Seems like a pretty well paid job, to me, that you wouldn’t want to fuck up….
…I especially like the last sentence about “the harsh reality of finding new work and making last minute plans to stay secure”.
…well, in the immortal words of highly motivational speaker John McClaine…

…I worked for the #2 retailer in the US at one time.
K-Mart.
But then I worked for the #1 retailer in the US.
Sears.
…notice a pattern here?
…things change, kids. Businesses open, businesses close, not even Communist apparatchiks or Federal employees (redundant, I know) can be sure their job is “Forever”.
Bad news, kids.
You’re whole LIFE is going to be “the harsh reality of finding new work and making last minute plans to stay secure”, and while Communism may make that WORSE, no amount of Karl and Mao is going to make that BETTER.
There is only ONE guarentee in life, and that is this;
Life Is Loss.
Get used to it.
Learn to deal with it.
Because you sure as HELL arent going to be able to CHANGE it.
On the bright side, they may not be exactly getting the diversity, but they are getting the equity and inclusion – they are all becoming unemployed.
…here’s a theme song for them in their existental angst.
No, its not mean.
Attend particuarly to the part about “Rest assured you cant be sure at all”…

100% of the zero employees the cafe chain will hire from now on will meet the proposed DEI requirements.
I had a bad experience once with a union. Never again will I work at a unionized establishment.
Socialism requires a dictator, no one wants to clean the restrooms. Someone’s going to though, if you want to stay in business. So, an assignment will be made. If you look at the Farmer’s Almanac list of jobs the different astrological signs will be best suited for you’ll soon note, all signs are best suited for… slaughter and butchering… why? Because NO ONE wants to do those jobs and everyone will try to scam off on them if possible, so the almanac isn’t going to help with it.
FAFO
I remember my father telling me stories about unions trying to unionize the workers in a small one horse, one job town, and the owner finally got tired of all the horse pucky finally said “Enough!”, and closed down the business, and sold off all the assets and machinery, so the unions couldn’t re-open, leaving the town high and dry.
Yeah. Don’t bite the hand that feeds ya.
“Unite Here Local 17 had this to say: ‘Café Cerés charges $16 for a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich but refuses to pay its baristas more than minimum wage.”
Ummm…..I thought baristas served coffee, and waiters and cooks served food. Seems to be a little bit of a false conflation here, don’cha’think?
Oh, and if ya don’t want to be left high and dry when a business closes down, then go to school, and learn a skill above gas pump jocky or burger flipper.
It doesn’t have to be a fancy four year degree from an overpriced university.
Fork lift operator. Welder. CAD/CAM. Electrician (home or commercial). Bio Technician.
I have a two year AAS Electronics (early 70s), which through thick and thin, I’ve always been able to jump from one job to the next to keep roof over head and family fed.
