Bassist and front man for Motörhead, Lemmy Kilmister, enjoyed his 70th birthday Christmas Eve, learned he had aggressive cancer the day after Christmas and died last night.
From the Motörhead facebook page
“for now, please…play Motörhead loud, …play Hawkwind loud, play Lemmy’s music LOUD.
Have a drink or few.
Share stories.
Celebrate the LIFE this lovely, wonderful man celebrated so vibrantly himself.
HE WOULD WANT EXACTLY THAT.
Ian ‘Lemmy’ Kilmister

Born to lose, lived to win.
RIP Lem. Thanks for the memories. See ya down the road sometime.
I went to a Lemmy show in a small venue a couple years ago. My ears were ringing, but he kept telling the soundman to turn it up. Insane – but an awesome show.
His recent song “You Might Have The Power, But That Don’t Give You The Right” was a message aimed right at Obama.
Hawkwind’s 1973 live album Space Ritual, where Lemmy playing bass alongside drummer Simon King created a melodic yet heavy rhythm line that’s never been matched is in my top ten albums of ALL TIME. Love the album.
RIP Lemmy
Grew up listening to them. “Ace of Spades” is one of my favorites. Rock On, Lemmy. RIP.
RIp lemmy.
I had a friend who went almost as fast.
Terrible thing is cancer.
R.I.P.
Ace of Spades, baby.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
I guess he was like his own song “Killed By Death”.
